The dramatic clash between good and evil

Dear Friend for Life

Blessed John Paul II, in his great encyclical "The Gospel of Life", reminds us that "we are facing an enormous and dramatic clash between good and evil, death and life, the 'culture of death' and the 'culture of life'.  We find ourselves not only 'faced with' but necessarily 'in the midst of' this conflict:  we are all involved and we all share in it, with the inescapable responsibility of choosing to be unconditionally pro-life".

This clash is very evident as people share their own stories...  Here's just a few that I have head in the last few days...
  • The woman who poured out her abortion story to one of our 40 Days for Life prayer-ers, going home on the train one night after standing outside Wellington Hospital all day;
  • The man who was conceived in rape and whose mother chose life for him.  Later, that man was to loose his terminally ill wife through what can only be termed euthanasia;
  • The mother who approached our Director, Colleen, at the Auckland vigil site to update her about her son whom she saved from abortion many, many years ago.  This young boy had many health issues and he lived for 10 years;
  • The husband grieving for his wife who had an abortion a decade ago;
  • The young post-abortive woman who must choose between her unborn child and her boyfriend.
I know that in your families and amongst your friends lie stories of great tragedy and great heroism.  Yes, each and every one of us stands in the midst of this great conflict.

Yet, there is much hope!

In Auckland we are rejoicing at the birth of two precious boys on March 26th!  Ten more special babies are due between now and October.  Thanks be to God that their mothers have chosen life!  Thank you too for your support!

Hearts and minds are being changed at all our 40 Days for Life vigil sites as God works in the ways that He knows best.

There are only 13 days left of these vigils.  If you have not yet had a chance to participate, then please consider spending just one hour in prayer outside the abortion chambers for the mothers, fathers, babies and clinic workers.  Vigils are being held in Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin.

We've caused a small stir in the media by our continual presence outside the abortion places.  Links are provided at the end of this email.

A special invitation is extended to you to come for the very final hour of the 40 Days for Life vigil on Palm Sunday, April 13th.  This will be a very special time as we unite together and place our trust in God's great mercy and love.  A poignant ceremony will take place.  Please bring your family and friends.

Auckland:  Meet on the opposite side of the road from AMAC, 283-289 Dominion Road, Mt Roskill at 6:45pm.  Phone 09 629 4361 for more information.
