Calling for Submissions!
The Art and Science Open Call

Deadline: Friday 30 May 2014
The Substation is launching a brand new platform, the Art and Science Open Call! If you've been thinking about a collaborative arts project between an artist and a science professional, we would love to hear from you. Here is some of the key facts:

Who should apply for the Art and Science Open Call?

Art and Science Open Call welcomes submissions from Singaporean or PR artists / creatives who are interested in developing an arts project that would involve substantial collaboration with a science professional. The project should explore the possibilities offered by the intersection of the arts and the sciences to present new modes of artistic expression through interdisciplinary practice.

What do you mean by 'science professional'?

The science professional should preferably work in the area of natural sciences (for e.g.: biology, physics, chemistry, geology), formal sciences (for e.g.: mathematics, systems theory, logic, robotic science) or applied sciences (for e.g.: computer science, medicine, engineering). They may be scientists, academics, science lecturers, doctors or engineers, but this is not an exhaustive list.

How long will I have to work on this, and where will it be presented?

The successful recipient will have about 15 months to work on the project, and the final presentation will take place in The Substation Gallery in September 2015.

Will I have any help?

Yes! A panel of consultants consisting of Robert Zhao (artist/founder of Institute of Critical Zoologists), Andreas Schlegel (artist/lecturer in Media Arts in LASALLE College of the Arts) and Chris Lee (Creative Director and Founder of Asylum) will offer advice to the recipient on the project.
