Drop in on the Symposium!
Thinking about your Honors Project? Want to take your research a step further? With presentations on topics ranging from architecture to stem cell research, and from suspects’ rights to asteroid deflection, the April 15 Symposium on Undergraduate Research & Creative Expression will offer you a wealth of ideas and examples.
The Symposium gives undergraduates from all disciplines a chance to share their research through conference-style oral presentations. This year’s event includes 123 topics – plus an art exhibit! Breaks between sessions offer opportunities for conversation and refreshments.
The Symposium is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the public. Drop in on the Memorial
Union’s second floor on Tuesday, April 15 any time between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and take in a presentation -- or two or three -- by ISU undergraduates engaged in research and creative work.
Also open to all are three professional development sessions: one on writing personal statements, another on preparing conference presentations and a panel on NSF Graduate Research Fellowships.
A detailed schedule of presentations, topics and times is online at:
http://www.undergradresearch.iastate.edu/symposium/
Take a look, find topics of interest, and come support fellow students and learn about ways to present and share your own research!

Leadership ISU - Apply to be a Fall '14 Peer Mentor!
If you are looking for an opportunity to share some of your leadership experience and knowledge with incoming Iowa State students, consider applying to be a Leadership ISU peer mentor!
Leadership ISU is a learning community that is partnered with CLPS 270x: Campus Leadership Development, a course for students who want to learn more about leadership and how to get involved on campus. The course will provide an array of learning opportunities and resources, as well as the chance to work with current campus leaders (students, staff, and faculty). The course will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 3:10-6:00pm during the fall semester, with one half of the time being spent in lecture and the other half being spent in cluster groups.
As a Leadership ISU peer mentor, you will have the opportunity to co-lead a cluster group of approximately 10 students and facilitate interactive lessons based on Kouzes and Posner’s five practices of exemplary leadership. You will develop lessons plans with your co-leader each week that will tie in with the lecture and the readings, as well as serve as a mentor and role model for students enrolled in the course.
For more information and to apply for this opportunity, please visit
www.sac.iastate.edu/lisu.
Applications are due April 7, at 8:00am.
Please contact
