You are receiving this email because you are awesome and want to stay updated on the Historic BID and our fantastic neighborhood.

The Historic Downtown Farmers Market has had a great start to 2014. Look up on 5th St, 7th St, and Broadway to see our new light pole banners, providing residents and visitors with information about the market and the Historic Core.

The market has welcomed several new vendors, including organic skincare products, kombucha and raw/vegan desserts, local coffee roasters, handwoven baskets, and floral arrangements.  We also have our staples, like Mom's hummus & dips, Two Bits Market's breakfast burritos, Flor de Lima's fresh-squeezed juices, and Southern California farmers selling fresh produce and eggs.

Come see the market's success for yourself and look for newly designed postcards around the neighborhood.  The Historic Downtown Farmers Market is open rain or shine every Sunday from 9am-2pm on 5th Street for you!  A big 'thank you' to our farmers market manager Ian Gabriel for all his hard work in helping us create a thriving place of community.

Visit our updated website at historicbid.com/farmers-market for more info, and make sure to like the market on Facebook!

The restaurant scene in the Historic Core, already receiving great praise and national attention, has even more to offer on the horizon.  Here are 5 exciting neighborhood concepts that are coming over the next few months:

Hero Shop - the team behind Black Hogg in Silver Lake is taking the former Babycakes space at 6th/Los Angeles and opening a bahn mi sandwich shop (now soft open!).

Beelman's Pub - located at 6th/Spring, LA's most densely populated intersection, Beelman's Pub will be a new neighborhood stop for European pub fare, craft cocktails, beer and wine.

Guisados - the beloved Boyle Heights taqueria takes their critically acclaimed tacos to the Spring Arcade on Spring St between 5th & 6th.

Kazu-Nori - Kazunori Nozawa, the chef behind DTLA favorite Sugarfish, is bringing quick, affordable, high-quality sushi to the Historic Core at a bar only setting.

By the Way Bar - Coly, owner of The Must on Winston St, is bringing more good times, great drinks, and vegan bites to the neighborhood on Main St between 5th & Winston.
While we pride ourselves on the great work our BID Safety Officers provide for the Historic Core, it takes involvement from the entire neighborhood to keep our community safe. LAPD is looking for Community Watch volunteers to help monitor safety cameras and keep extra pairs of eyes on the neighborhood.

If you are interested in helping, please email us at info@historicbid.com.
Exercise, music, movement and love happens every day at 5th/Main thanks to Your Neighborhood Studio, bringing dance classes of all types to the Historic Core.

Whether you're a beginner or a pro, there's a dance class for everyone.  Your Neighborhood Studio invites you to try out a class for FREE on Saturday, April 19th.  See their full schedule of classes here.

Metro Charter Elementary School, Downtown LA's first new charter school, is currently enrolling Downtown kids from K-3rd grade. Visit metrocharter.org or call (213) 377-5708 for more information.
