April newsletter 2014

Dear all
Spring is exploding with flowers and scents - and lots of upcoming performances....
When you read this, Secret Hotel will be at The Aprilfestival - Theatre for Young Audiences in Holstebro - the world's largest festival for childrens's theater. Monday we performed Head & Tail for a lot of lovely children af Vinderup School + both Danish and international colleagues. We are looking forward to Saturday - performing Head & Tail again...

Sensescapes - Sensorial walks in the landscape
In April Secret Hotel facilitates the creation of a series of sensorial walks in Mols and Aarhus. In Sensescapes you will be guided on a explorative walk through a landscape which will be both ordinary and unknown. As you will be blindfolded you will experience the surroundings and your own body in a special way - maybe remarkably differently than you are used to.
The experiment Sensescapes is part of Secret Hotel's project Landscape Dialogues. Sensescapes is developed by concept developer and performer Mie Lotus Lykke, as part of her final thesis in Aesthetics and Culture at Aarhus University. Sensescapes investigates landscapes, multisensory and spontaneously, and asks how aesthetic, sensed experience can affect our perception of the landscapes we are part of.
Would you like to try a sensorial walk? When you read this there might still be a few open 'departures'...

Think Walk in Mols Hills

As it has become a tradition by now we offer our walking performance again this spring - Think Walk / Tanke Gange: April 25th-27th. Think Walk explores our relations to surroundings and landscapes. You are invited on a walk around an old farm in the countryside of Mols - and into your own mind and memories. The hostess Christine Fentz will welcome you and send you off to walk on your own. Through an Mp3 player you will be asked to ponder on questions like 'What shapes our perception of our surroundings?' and 'What IS this thing ‘nature’ actually?'
You can try Think Walk at these departure hours:
Friday: 4pm and 4:30pm
Sat & Sun: 10am, 10.30am, noon, 12.30pm, 2pm, 2.30pm, 4pm and 4.30pm
Tickets: 100 DKK

Crossdisciplinary challenges
During the weekend May 23th-25th Secret Hotel hosts a crossdisciplinary debate weekend in Mols and in Aarhus. More than twenty professionals from the arts and other fields will meet to challenge each other regarding how one can work with performing art, sustainability and landscapes.
Upcoming
Soon our new performance B.O.D.Y. will premiere - it happens at Bora Bora in Aarhus May 13th and we also perform on May 14th and 15th (one day is already sold out). We look forward to welcoming you! Before that we have a sneak-view at the High School in Esbjerg where we as visiting artists also worked with the pupils on developing the performance.

But we got a lot more on our Spring programme: We will be part of The Sustainability Festival in Aarhus May 16th with the performance lecture In the Field, and will do a revised version for Nordic Performing Art Days June 13th. At the event Slow (Food) Performing Arts, June 14th, we will tell about Landscape Dialogues and Christine will curate that event as well. In the Field will then travel on to Copenhagen, being a part of the platform Independent Festival at the CPH STAGE June 15th and 16th.
See you in the future landscapes!
