We would like to thank everyone who showed interest in and submitted an application to be an MCC Intern/Liaison.  We are excited to continue our work with so many amazing individuals and communities at CAL.

A BIG thank you to all those who organized and participated in the Senior Weekend events and activities! We are grateful to the Recruitment and Retention centers and organizations that helped make it possible. It is amazing to see the immense amount of student of color representation in the incoming class, and we appreciate that you continue to plant and water the seeds of resistance so that our stories are told.

And as always, come by and hang out with us any time.

You can find us in:

Upcoming Events:
Yoga and Access: Question of Inclusion Conference

Conversations about yoga revolve around “best practices." Rarely are critical questions surrounding how yoga arrived in America, or who has access to the practice discussed. Engaging alternative issues, this conference provides an opportunity to examine often less visible issues of practitioner and community well-being.

Friday April 25: 9am-5pm

In collaboration with the Gender Equity Resource Center, we invite you to join us as we embark on a critical discussion of the sex work industry and queer folx experiences within the industry. The evening will consist of storytelling as well as discussions unpacking the deep silencing and shaming queer sex workers face within our society. We hope to explore the taboos and myths surrounding sex work, the lack of visibility of sex workers on campus and imagining a world and campus safe and thriving for queer people within the industry. So join us in an evening full of dialogue, exploration, and healing!

Queering Sex Work: Illumination Queer Voices in the Industry
April 29, 2014  //   5-7pm   //   MCC (HFA D-37)
The symposium is scheduled for Wednesday April 30th 2014 at UC Berkeley’s Multicultural Community Center from 9-5pm.  In the past two years, we have encouraged presentations that engage with the values and principles of the MCC such as— anti-oppression, cross-cultural understanding/solidarity, popular education, sustainability and wellness (http://mcc.berkeley.edu/about).
This year, in the spirit of the 45
th anniversary of the Third World Liberation Front, we encourage presentations to engage with the following themes: Reconceptualizing Research, Resistance, Community and Practice.  This year’s theme draws from the multiple timelines of women of color feminism, critical race and gender studies, and queer studies that strive to redefine power and patterns of relating.  This theme touches upon the ways scholarship can negotiate intellectual boundaries as well as transgress the limits of the academy, art and activism.
Please let us know that you will joining us by registering for the event. We want to make sure there's plenty of delicious food for everyone!! (Registration Form)
