April 2014

DRAWBRIDGE CREATIVE

Thanks for subscribing to our Newsletter. We hope to share with you a little about Drawbridge Creative Graphic & Web Design...how we work, what we do, and the creative energy behind it all.

The Nike swoosh was designed in 1971 by Carolyn Davidson. At the time, she was a graphic design student at Portland State University. She was paid $35 for her logo design.

With the purchase of a LOGO DESIGN during the month of April, receive the design of your Business Cards at NO COST! (PS...just so you know, the logo will cost more than $35!)

The Design Process:

Here's the thing...it doesn't just pop out of our heads and happen instantaneously! With any design, there's a lot of thought, brainstorming and idea generation that takes place to bring a concept to life. The following steps are part of the Drawbridge process:

Research:
We start with a meeting (in person or on-line) to discuss the design project and gather the information needed with respect to the client's business goal, values and brand, competition and intended audience. From this meeting, Drawbridge will put together a Design Brief outlining the Project which will include time-lines and pricing.

Concept & Development:
As soon as the Design Brief is approved, Drawbridge begins brainstorming and sketching out various ideas before mocking them up in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign or Photoshop. This is where designers typically have the most fun! Developing ideas and watching them come to life is one of the biggest reasons we love our jobs. Drawbridge will come up with a few different approaches and present them for review and discussion. From there, you're able to select a design “as is” or suggest specific changes. As well, you can combine concepts from a few different ideas as we work towards the final design.

Finals & Presentation:
Once the concept is selected and approved, Drawbridge will put together the final files for presentation and approval. Final files will be presented in person if possible.

Deliverables:
Any final tweaks or adjustments will be made post-presentation and final files will be given to the client. While not responsible for printing, Drawbridge Creative can help in getting pricing from local print houses.

Faced with my father's 70th birthday and not knowing what to get the man who has everything...the search began for the perfect gift. A look through Pinterest...where I can usually find a great deal of design inspiration...and "Seventy Things We Love About You" was the perfect project! I emailed all of Dad's family for their input...and designed a poster with seventy wonderful comments...a lifetime of stories and love.
See you next month!
