Penn State Turf Alumna Shares her Story
Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden. The acronym believed to represent golf for decades. It's not only applicable in the game, but the workforce as well. Women were once seen as stay-at-home laborers while the men worked and participated in leisure activities. Women were seen as fragile creatures not fit to do labor-intensive work. Times have changed and many women occupy jobs requiring both physical and mental strength and are often sole or joint providers for their families. Read More.
Alum Talks about Challenges on Athletic Fields
Dan Shemesh, the director of grounds for the Red Bulls at their stadium in Harrison, N.J., and their training center in Hanover, N.J., has also worked with the Phillies and the Eagles in Philadelphia and the Patriots and the Revolution in New England. Through cold and warm weather, rain and snow, grass and artificial turf, he said, many of the athletes he encounters do not care much about the condition of the material underfoot.
