"Why curse the darkness when you can light a candle"

I heard this recently in a yoga class from a student.

There is a practice of remembering all the positive and inspiring things that happened each day: a smile, kind words, dogs playing.

Another practice is to initiate a positive and inspiring event yourself.

Be the breath of fresh air for someone else.

Have you tried smiling (kindly) at an angry driver? ... Leaving some extra change in a parking meter for the next person? ...  Saying words of encouragement to a jogger? ... Or randomly writing a short note to a close friend to express how much you value their presence in your life?

Light the Candle!
