IT’S GENERAL MEETING TIME
Today’s the day. Tonight’s the night. The KSU Spring General Meeting is at 7PM in Alumni Hall. There will be breakfast food. There will be elections. There will be budgets. There will be onesies. There might be puppies.
We’ll be electing the following committees:
- Elections Committee
- Bylaw Review Committee
- Equity Affairs Committee
- Environmental Affairs Committee
- Watch Board of Publishers
- Galley Board of Directors
And of course there are the revised Bylaws and the proposed budget to go over. All while munching on tater tots, waffles, and bacon. Mmmmm, mmmmm. Check out the Facebook event and webpage for more info. Also, here’s the agenda!
PUPPIES ON PUPPIES ON PUPPIES
It’s finally here!!! This week on Tuesday from 1-5PM in the SCR there will be PUPPIES! Why? Who* even cares!?!! You can come in any time that afternoon to pet and play with the wonderful dogs being brought in by Therapeutic Paws of Canada. I’LL SEE YOU ALL THERE WOOHOOOO.
BOOKSTORE SALE
Our lovely wonderful very own Bookstore is having a sale next week! Starting Tuesday there will be a gigantic table covered in books and other fun things that will all be 20-40% off. There will also be clothes on sale - also 20-40% off. The sale will last until Friday. Will there also be puppies on sale? Who knows. This hasn’t been confirmed one way or the other so I guess you’ll all just have to go to find out for yourselves.
MORE #CLASSOF2014 THINGS (GRADS THAT’S YOU)
Three things: 1. Go get your photos taken you silly grads you. 2. There’s gonna be a Garrison brewery tour for all o’ y’all on April 8 at 7pm. Sounds like a super fun time. I’m pretty jealous of you grads right now (psych I don’t have to write a thesis!). The tour will cost $10 (Michal assures me that this cost represents a distinct SAVINGS of $2) and you get five 12oz. beers with the tour! What an opportunity. 3. Pick up your tickets for Encaenia and the President’s Dinner from Safia Haq in the Bursar’s office. I’m told there will be puppies at this Dinner. Was I misinformed? I won’t be there, so you tell me.
ENROLMENT TOWN HALL
The time is now, folks. You’re all invited to the Enrolment Town Hall where we’ll discuss the Enrolment Plan. It’s at 4:30PM in Alumni Hall on Monday (that’s right before the KSU General Meeting!!), and there will be copies of the SWOT analysis (yes, that stands for exactly what you think it does), enrolment data, and a summary of recommendations available at the town hall. As if that doesn’t sound like enough reading, here’s some more! The agenda, discussion documents, and appendices are all available right now. Read them with a puppy at your side for added concentration and warm fuzzy feelings. Your Enrolment Plan subcommittee members are Susan Dodd, Terra Tailleur, Michaela Sam, and Elizabeth Yeo. Holler at one of them if you have any questions!

This is the week friends. Double choir, full orchestra, seven soloists - what else could we ask for? This Sunday (April 6) at 4PM is when it all goes down. Where? Here. Tickets? Fifteen beans at the Bookstore, or here. Puppies? Puppies.

SCHEDULE DU JOUR
MONDAY MARCH 31
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BACH: SPECIAL CHAPEL CONCERT
King’s Chapel, 7PM
Hmmm, a concert at exactly the same time at the KSU General Meeting. I have to say I’m going to the GM, but for all of you die-hard Chapel fans, here are the deets. It’s Bach’s birthday, and to celebrate, the Chapel is having a special concert. The program, prepared by the oh-so-devilishly-handsome Nicolas Veltmeyer, features Lenten organ works by Bach including his magnificent Sei Gegrusset. The concert will be under an hour, and may or may not also include a sneak peak of the morrow’s puppy extravaganza.
KRASNOGORSK, NICK EVERETT, ELIZA NIEMI
Wardroom, 9PM
What a lineup! AFTER YOU GO TO THE KSU GENERAL MEETING, head to the Wardy and check it out. This show is going to rock your recently-breakfasted socks off. Check out this super neat video interview of Jacques of Krasnogorsk that I did with the Arts Abstract a while back.
THURSDAY APRIL 3
AWARDS NIGHT
Wardroom, 9PM
The results are in at last! Tonight we will be tallying K-Points and announcing the winners of all the student-nominated awards! Rumour has it that Meg Shields and this puppy will be MCing the evenings proceedings. If that doesn’t convince you to come get your K on then I don’t what will.
FRIDAY APRIL 4
BLUE CANOES
Pit, 8PM
The KTS’s final shindig of the year! Celebrate, dance, and “get a little shwasty†as the KTS says goodbye to its old exec and welcomes in the new. This promises to a be a party worthy of a vicious opening stampede from a horde of deranged puppies.
SATURDAY APRIL 5
SONGS FROM THE SOCK DRAWER
Red Room, 7:30PM
This is the Unconscious Collective Vocal Ensemble’s last concert of the year! As we approach exams and end of year stress, they are taking the time to find the fun in things, with a fairly upbeat, themeless concert. They’re exploring new musical territory, as well as revisiting their old favourites - from Bulgarian, to classic rock, to folk, to John Williams, this concert will be quite the ride. Speaking of rides, check out this puppy.
SUNDAY APRIL 6
KING’S CHAPEL CHOIR PRESENTS: ST MATTHEW PASSION
Cathedral Church of All Saints, 4PM
You read all about this above and here it is all over again folks. To quote myself about 5 paragraphs ago: “This is the week friends. Double choir, full orchestra, seven soloists - what else could we ask for? This Sunday (April 6) at 4PM is when it all goes down. Where? Here. Tickets? Fifteen beans at the Bookstore, or here. Puppies? Puppies.â€
SONGS FROM THE SOCK DRAWER
Red Room, 1:00PM
Again!
*Some people do. Animals have been scientifically proven to help reduce stress, and these particular animals (or so I’m told) are in training to become therapy dogs to be employed in hospitals and similar settings. Cool!
