Bluefire Blog

Announcing the Bluefire Blog
Didn't get published this year?  We have launched a blog site that takes submissions year round.  The guidelines are looser than the contest - we take creative fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry of up to 2500 words.  We will publish the 'Best of Bluefire Blog' in next year's journal, so if you are an aspiring young author, check out the Bluefire Blog on our website for guidelines and to submit a piece.

Spring Fundraiser

We are holding a Spring Fundraiser to raise money for providing creative writing curricula to underserved segments of our community.  This is one of the key specific aims of our Foundation, and this year we will be working with Girls to Women of East Palo Alto to provide a creative writing summer camp.  Our Foundation will provide a creative writing curriculum, and we need to raise $3000 to pay for materials and the teacher.  If you can help out, please click the donate button or visit our Donation page on our website, www.blue4beban.org or www.bluefire.org.

We will be holding an award celebration on Sunday, April 27th, 2014, from 2-4 PM at Kepler's bookstore in Menlo Park, CA.  The award recipients and some honorable mention students will read their piece and receive their awards.  In addition, I'm pleased to announce that local YA author Linsay Tam Holland will be there to talk to our young authors about their work, about being an author, to provide words of wisdom on becoming a writer, and to answer questions.  If you are interested in attending this free event, please follow this invitation link to register.
