2013-2014 theme verse:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

2 Timothy 1:7

Wagner speaks at SWU

Using a Bible and headphones, Kenneth Wagner speaks about "plugging in" to God's Word and tuning out the surrounding noise of the world. A 2008 SWU alumnus, Wagner is lead student pastor at Calvary Wesleyan church in Harrington, Del. He was speaker for a special Preview Day chapel this past Friday.
Wagner also spoke to youth attending Fellowship of the Called (FOTC), which took place over the weekend on the Central campus. Wagner is  passionate about seeing students gain an authentic faith in Christ. God’s ministry through Kenneth and Sherry Wagner along with the staff of UNI+ED impacts the lives of more than 200 youth each week.

Preview Day

SWU Ambassadors led prospective students and guests on a campus tour during Preview Day this past Friday. Prospective students and guests also met with faculty and staff members, attended a special Preview Chapel and heard from President Todd Voss.

Clayton Drive closing

It appears that the road repairs for Clayton Drive has now been set for next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 1-3, as the weather allows. While construction is taking place, please turn onto Wesleyan Drive. Those approaching SWU from the east can turn onto Thomas Lane. The CATbus is rerouting onto Wesleyan Drive, as shown on the map. Thank you for keeping this in mind as both the surrounding and SWU communities will certainly benefit from these road improvements.

Johnson receives grant

Staci Johnson, SWU biology instructor, was awarded a grant from the Team Based Learning Collaborative (TBLC). She will research "The use of PollEverywhere.com for simultaneous reporting of team decisions in the Team Based Learning classroom." While Prof. Johnson has utilized both electronic and paper-based simultaneous reporting methods in courses, she was surprised to find no published data on which method best facilitates student learning. The research will be conducted in both general education and upper level biology courses for four semesters, beginning in Fall 2014. Johnson will present the findings of her research at the TBLC Annual Meeting in 2017. The TBLC is composed of educators at all levels that utilize the active learning strategy Team Based Learning. Its goal is to promote collaborative projects across institutions, and seeks to stimulate the development of a community of educational scholars.
