Climate Week 3 - 9 March
Manor House PACT got involved in a week of action to highlight what communities up and down the country can do to tackle climate change.
The Redmond Community Centre hosted a series of activites to celebrate Climate Change Week over 3 days. There were activites for all ages, including storytelling, T-shirt printing, model making with recycled cardboard, and a 'recycled robot dance' in the hall. Communiart, a local collective of artists, opened its first art exhibition with a late night viewing until 8pm on Friday 7th.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed. The art exhibition is still up if you want to take a look.

Connecting the Community
In February 2014, our Energy Assessor Andy Roberts met local resident Sam Jewell, who has invented a document reader to assist blind/partially sighted people to read their bills, by coverting them into audio.
Andy connected Sam up with Sahera who is registered partially sighted. With financial support from Manor House Development Trust, Sahera was able to pay for it and is amazed by how much it helps. She said:
“Thanks to Manor House PACT and Andy, this device will be a great help to me in the future!â€
This is a great example of how Manor House PACT is creating added value through connecting our community and providing a tailored service to meet the needs of vulnerable residents.

Redmond Roots Gardening Group
|
|
|
|
This month, the Redmond Roots group sowed sunflower and spinach in seed trays and planted calendula and radish. The group learned about how to look after your plant if they get attacked by aphids. Some great tips for budding gardeners! Over the next few sessions, the group will be enjoying kale and spring green cuttings.
Everyone is welcome! The group meet on the last Friday of the month or Tuesday afternoons if you'd like to volunteer.
Get in touch with Kristina on 0208 356 7584 / kristina.georgiou@mhdt.org.uk and if you are interested.

Pocket Parks
London Wildlife Trust and a team of local volunteers began planting for the new Wildlife Garden, creating a natural oasis from the busy Seven Sisters Road. Located just behind Savernake House, the garden provides a fantastic ‘hill top’ view of Alexandra Palace and to the hills north of London. Our Gloria joined the team of locals as they planted a new hedgerow, with native plants including blackthorn and hawthorn.
Gloria commented:
"It is great to see this neglected space be brought back to life and living nearby I'll certainly be popping by to take advantage of this peaceful spot"
We are planning further volunteer days so contact Francisco on fcarmo@wildlondon.org.uk or 07834 867 419 if you would like to get involved.
