Fáilte is fiche, and welcome to the "A Captain Unafraid" newsletter. The Indiegogo campaign has blasted off, the boat has been set afloat. The funding campaign will last for 50 days, and by the end of it (after a small bit of struggle and strife!) we'll be set and ready for Cuba and New York. Here is the link -
"A Captain Unafraid" Indiegogo Campaign
The documentary film "A Captain Unafraid" will document the life of "Dynamite" Johnny O' Brien-19th century sefarer and  adventurer. Johnny grew up in New Yorks shipyards. His parents came from Longford and Cavan, Ireland. The film will be interspersed by the handiwork of graphic artist John O' Leary. John will help move the story along through illustrations of the various adventures that "Dynamite" Johnny O' Brien was involved in. Interviews on location with the likes Cuban Historian and expert on Johnny, José Quintana, and New York based author, Marian Betancourt, will further inform the story.

I'll be using my blog "Ildaite" to chart the progress through deeper waters in Cavan, Cuba, and New York. This newsletter will be a more concise and bite sized kettle of fish than the blog! My intention is to publicise the film at some "Dynamite" specific gigs, in media, and at the O' Brien clan gathering in Clontarf at the end of month. This year (and month) is the 1000th anniversary of the death of Brian Boru-founder of the O' Brien Clan. This month is also the birth month of "Dynamite" Johnny O' Brien. The stars are aligned well for O' Briens, it seems, hopefully it will trickle down to the likes of myself!
