Happy Spring!

Spring has sprung and so has my allergies! No seriously, has anyone else been having serious issues with allergies? Not sure who's winning the war on my eyeballs, Nature or the effects of IBD but I'm living in CVS and fighting back! LOL!

Well the shining sun and the warmer weather is bringing lots of great changes to our household. New readers, new medical treatments, advocacy changes and prepping for Kindergarten. That's right, Hippo will invade Kindergarten in August! It's going down people and I am just trying to get my seatbelt securely fastened. Stay Tuned!

Get Up! Stand Up!
Stand Up For Your Right!

This past March I did something that completely changed my life and my perspective on my disease and my country. I advocated for IBD Patients on Capitol Hill during a snowstorm with the Digestive Disease National Coalition as a patient representative for The Crohn's & Colits Foundation of America. Here's a taste of my journey.

New IBD Friendly Snackies
By
Happy Family Brands

I know I talk a lot about Happy Family, but it's because I truly LOVE the product. It's one of the reasons I represent them in Los Angeles as a Happy Mama. A few of their new snacks are super yummy & IBD friendly. My favorites are the Spinach & Apple Happy Munchies Fruit & Veggie Crisps. They are now on sale in bulk at Costco!

My #ManCrushMonday

For the past 6 or 7 years I have had a political man crush on (then Mayor) Senator Cory Booker. His common sense plan of attack when it comes to governing is comforting and exciting. I spent some time phone banking and fundraising for the New Jersey special election to help get the Senator elected and now I'm back. He's up for re-election and I am fired up and ready to go. His committment over the past few months to the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2013 & is working on leading a cause to help IMPROVE ACA (not waste taxpayers money fighting to get rid of it). After a conversation with him about the issues of IBD & chronic disease patients, I am confident that paired with Senator Menendez (who has co-sponsored legislation for IBD presented by Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid). I encourage you to support Senators like Cory Booker who believe in reaching across the floor to bridge caps to govern. Cory is a great listener and he takes what he hears and puts into action. Please support! Tell them I sent ya! :-)
