Boosting Bay Businesses

Partnerships are the very essence of Morecambe Bay Partnership’s work. Through our partnership with Marketing Lancashire and RSPB, two new products have been launched, see below. Other partners in our programmes include Cumbria Tourism, Bay Tourism, and the Morecambe Bay Local Nature Partnership.

Morecambe Bay Partnership has been busy supporting businesses with the skills, training and information they need to promote and market the Bay better.  Already more than 30 SME’s in the Bay area have benefited from these new products. The Welcome to Morecambe Bay training and Sense of Place Toolkit and Guides will not only build skills and capacity, but also build the Bay as a destination, spreading visitor economy benefits around the County.

We are hugely grateful for the support from all our partners and funders which makes our work possible.

Welcome to Morecambe Bay Training

A brand–new bespoke training course that combines customer care with product knowledge has been launched, with the first cohort of students awarded accredited status.  The Welcome to Morecambe Bay’ course is designed to benefit customer-facing staff working in the hospitality, tourism, leisure, transport and retail sectors.  The programme will also benefit students preparing for employment.

Could you or your staff benefit from this subsidised one-day training course? Next dates: Barrow 13 May and Carnforth on 15 May.

Sense of Place Toolkit and Guides

The Morecambe Bay Sense of Place Toolkit is a brand–new, easy-to-use guide, designed to help businesses deliver richer visitor experiences by celebrating the special and unique character of the Bay.

The first 4 (of 10) ‘Doorstep Guides’  cover Ulverston, Grange, Witherslack and Silverdale. Keep an eye out for the rest of the series to be published online shortly.

These guides showcase the area’s rich wildlife, fascinating history and traditions and offer several days of exploration to entice visitors to stay longer and repeat their visits.

Keeping our beaches clean!

28 Businesses have pledged their support to the LOVEmyBEACH campaign. Show your support by getting in touch with Emma.

The new bathing waters season starts in May so next time you visit the beach at Morecambe or Walney look out for the bathing water results on the display boards.

Have you got 2 hours to spare? Would you like to volunteer to help clean your local beach? Regular beach cleans are organised by our fabulous volunteers. Join us, dates here. All welcome.
