Easter Flowers...

Tomorrow is the last day to let Cathy know about your donation towards Easter Flowers...If you would like to donate towards the purchasing of flowers for the church please contact Cathy Yocom in the office (613-839-3195). If you wish, your name or the name of the person(s) you would like to give your flower donation in memory of will be added to the bulletin on Easter Weekend.

Please note that if you have offered memorial flowers for Easter or a financial contribution to the Easter Flowers in the past that the list of contributors is being started afresh this year. In past years we have inserted the list from the previous years because we have been unsure of who is going to continue their tradition of donating and/or dropping off flowers. This year we are going to start from scratch so please let us know via email or phone call that you are donating and/or dropping off flowers. We are thankful for your contribution; we just need to know it is happening in order for us to add it to the list.

That said I do understand that some people will want to donate to this and not have their name(s) listed; if you do not request your name to be listed via email/phone then it won't be listed and that is also a completely blessed way to contribute to the Easter Celebration.

Just a couple of other Flower things...
1. We have several people who are sensitive to scents. The arrangements that we purchase will keep scent to a minimum. If you drop flowers off please consider this as well.
2. If you are wanting your name or a memorial name in the bulletin it must be received no later than Tuesday, April 22nd at noon. We print off the bulletins first thing Holy Wednesday morning.
3. Donations towards flowers can be dropped off to the office or placed on offering plate in an envelope that says 'Easter Flowers' on it.

Important Parish Meetings

How will our Parish continue its journey?
Over the past 18 months there have been several conversations around the mission opportunities and challenges we have in our three-point parish. In 2012 we stated in our Visioning Day that an exploration of how we delivery worship should be discussed. At our February Vestry a motion was passed to invite Parish Council to determine an opportunity for a Parish Wide conversation on these opportunities and challenges we face. It is a sign of a very committed community when thoughts and ideas about our mission is considered important!

Parish Council invites you to participate in two important meetings to begin this dialogue.

Monday, April 28th ~ 6:30 gathering for a meeting from 7 – 9pm. All parishioners will be invited to pray about and discuss the Diocesan initiative called Embracing God’s Future that highlights some of the hopes and realities that the broader community of Anglican churches in Ottawa are considering. This meeting will provide an opportunity for us to reflect on the ideas and thoughts being shared by other churches and to begin to consider our own parish realities and hopes.

Monday, May 5th ~ 6:30 gathering for a meeting from 7 – 9pm.
The conversation will continue and will begin to look more deeply at some of the current opportunities and challenges we have as a church in the Carp community. We will have an open discussion about  our three buildings and how we might make changes to how our Sunday worship is delivered throughout the seasons and over the years.

Please Attend! Though these two meetings will likely just be a ‘beginning’ you are encouraged to attend so that as many people as possible are part of this journey of planning and structuring our Parish for ministry in the future.

“Mission is not ours; mission is God’s. Certainly, the mission of God is the prior reality out of which flows any mission that we get involved in. Or, as has been nicely put, it is not so much the case that God has a mission for His church in the world but that God has a church for His mission in the world. Mission was not made for the church; the church was made for mission—God’s mission.”
–Christopher J. H. Wright, The Mission of God: Unlocking the Bible’s Grand Narrative (Downers Grove, Ill.: IVP Academic, 2006), 62.
