Prayer Corner

Prayer Request:
  • Our family’s health and safety
  • Discernment on how we can best help those requesting our assistance
  • We keep our eyes fixed on the Lord and for others to see the Lord in our lives
  • Water and electricity to only have minimal outages
  • Two Italian priests and one Canadian nun were abducted April 5th in the far north of Cameroon, please pray for their unharmed release.

“...whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.  The water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14 (NIV)

Dear Friend,

THANK YOU!  Your partnership through prayer and finances gives us the privilege to be the hands and feet in Cameroon.

Three full-time jobs
David has been filling three full-time jobs.  Please pray for him.  Pray for the upcoming annual audit of our branch.  Due to David filling three roles, all the checks and balance accountabilities are not all in place, which will result in audit write-ups.

Annual Conference and Spiritual Retreat
Our annual conference (think of it as a three day church business meeting) and our annual spiritual retreat took place the last week of March and the first week of April.  The spiritual retreat speaker was challenging and greatly appreciated.

Visitor
We had a visitor!  One of our friends from language school came to Yaoundé for a conference with his mission.  It was encouraging and fun to spend some time with him.

Helicopter ride
Our organization has an aviation department that serves missionaries who live in remote settings.  The helicopter is normally in the northwest region of Cameroon, however, the pilots flew it down to Yaoundé and teamed up with RFIS, Rain Forest International School.  The middle and high school classes used the rides to raise funds for their various school events.  We could purchase tickets in advance to take a six-minute flight over part of Yaoundé.  This was the first helicopter ride any of us have ever taken.

Water outage
Recently we had five days without water.  There were several breaks in the central water line between our neighborhood and another one creating a large spread water outage.  We are thankful for our 900 liter holding tank, however, it was down to the sediment layer in the bottom at the start of the sixth day.  We were thrilled and so thankful to the Lord when the water returned.

Trip to Buea
In 2012, DeAnna had a surgical procedure for a health issue.  She has been having problems off and on for a year.  She has been communicating with her doctor in the US, but came to a place where she needed to find someone closer to Cameroon.  She was given the contact information of a US doctor who serves in Buea, Cameroon. After many email exchanges, it was decided she needed to have a visit.  We traveled April 3rd and 4th to Buea.  Buea is at the foot of Mount Cameroon (the largest mountain on the western side of Africa) down by the Atlantic coast.  We dipped our toes in the water on the black sand beaches near Buea and enjoyed seeing Mount Cameroon.  We are happy to report DeAnna doesn’t have the same health issue she had in 2012!  We are also rejoicing that we had safe, uneventful travels to and from Buea.
