For the past 11 years (it all began in April 2003), Irving Women’s Network has been providing a valuable resource to the women who have made the commitment to become a member and get to know the other women in the network. These women have proven to be an invaluable resource when another member or members need help. That help has come in the form of referrals for jobs, doctors, lawyers, ministers, clients, board members, volunteer help, providing for those in need and less fortunate … you name the need and one of the IWN ladies can help you find the answer!
There is one little caveat to this – you must ask for the help.
So … in April instead of our usual round table introductions, each lady present will be given a minute to a minute and a half to say her name, company name and one networking request. The other ladies will be listening. When you hear a request where you can give input, make a referral, etc., fill out the referral form you will find in front of your plate. Then raise your hand and one of our “runners†will pick up your note and deliver it to the right lady. Don’t be shy about what you are looking for … in the past we have had ladies ask for ways to get their retired husbands out of the house, jobs for teenage sons, help with organizing a non-profit fundraiser and someone you would like to treat to a relaxing massage.
Come prepared with your request and, if on the off-chance that right now you do not have a need, how about filling your minute with one simple sentence saying why IWN is valuable to you.
