Winter 2014

Long & Cold but Purposeful & Productive

Although we're all glad the snow is gone and it's finally starting to warm up, winter has been a great season for Chi Alpha in Ohio! At our annual area conference, SALT, held in Indianapolis, our Ohio XA groups had a great turnout even in the midst of a monster blizzard! The city closed the streets on the last day, stranding several groups and leaders, including Steve, in the powerless hotel. None-the-less, the students were energized, equipped and empowered with what they learned and encountered.

Equipping, encouraging, energizing and empowering are all great "e" words we offer to current and future campus missionaries.  As they are healthy, happy and humming along in their calling, students are directly impacted.  Weekly, we hear from our campus missionaries around the state of how God is showing up in life changing ways on their campuses.

Thank you for your prayers and financial blessings into our lives, enabling us to invest in the campus leaders throughout Ohio. You are part of the team that's making a difference for Jesus' glory.

Steve has always enjoyed speaking and he's really good at it (Liz is obviously writing this:).  So it's nice that he still gets so many opportunities to speak. He is good at casting vision, challenging the status quo and calling for change. Recently, he did a two part teaching on Creation at our SALT conference, spoke at a local young adult ministry and at a missions focused banquet.

Steve travelled back and forth to Columbus multiple times this winter, speaking at Ohio State's Chi Alpha group as he continues to ask the Lord to provide a new Nationally Appointed director to take the reigns of OSU XA.

He is speaking at several churches this spring and summer, expanding XA's visibility and the kingdom of God!
Things to keep in your prayers:
  • Ohio State Campus Director
  • Columbus State XA start up
  • Increased support for itinerating XA missionaries
Chi Alpha is growing in our state in strength, effectiveness and numbers. This equates to more students being touched and changed by the power of Jesus!  Please keep these campus groups and their leaders in prayer - they are on the front lines of the battle for students' lives and futures.
