At our last meeting...
We were excited and encouraged by Ryan to view Job's suffering in a different light.
The question was posed as to why Job's friends got so much attention and how can this book be more meaningful to us in our situation.
We looked at chapter 28 as being the focal point of the whole book, being that no amount of effort, even as demanding as mining for precious treasures, will let us understand the depths of God's wisdom. There is a limit to what we can understand when entering in to the realm of the deeper, hidden, mysteries of what God is doing behind the scenes. In the challenges of caring for our loved ones, we can get trapped into the "what ifs" and we try to apply the practical type of wisdom found in the Proverbs which is understandable to all. The divine wisdom necessary to explain suffering is sometimes inaccessible to man. (Continued next month.)

Suggestions to experience contentment
1. Never complain about anything, not even the weather.
2. Never picture yourself to be under a different set of circumstances than you are presently in.
3. Never compare your lot with that of another.
4. Never allow yourself to dwell on the wish that this or that had been, or were, otherwise than it was, or is.
5. Never dwell on tomorrow. Remember it is God’s, and not yours.
(G.F. Maine's A BOOK OF DAILY READINGS.)
Now godliness with contentment is great gain. - 1 Timothy 6:6 NKJV

Giving Attention to Prayer
Weighing In
by Marsha Headley
Burdens big as boulders
Time to weigh them in.
Lord, it seems today my heart
Has such a lot of them.
You never told me they were mine
“Just cast your cares,” You said
But day by day they’ve added up
til now I’m in my bed.
That casting part is hard for me
-Well, not the little ones.
But burdens big as boulders
It seems they weigh a ton!
So I’m weighing in and dropping off
The ones I’ve added on.
Could you sculpt them into works of art
To show the work you’ve done?
Your peace that passes understanding
Put it in my heart.
And while you’re at it, I could use
The strength for a brand new start.
It’s time to run my race again.
I’ve laid aside “the weight” (Heb. 12:1)
I’m on the starting line again,
And off for Heaven’s gate!

Joy in the Journey

a word from our Pastor...
John MacArthur
"My favorite definition of JOY is this…JOY is the flag that flies on the castle of the heart when the King is in residence there.
