Murality Update: We are now putting the final touches on the Kickstarter video for our fundraising campaign. This time next week the campaign will be live! I am asking for your continued support to help make this project successful. Through funding contributions and or sharing the campaign with your friends, we will be able to create a beautifully uplifting, community art project of jumping joy.

Other ways to get involved! Post your own jumping joy photos on twitter:

Featured jumper of the week: MELODY MALike Jump for Joy! Featuring Melody Ma on Facebook

MELODY MA ...

From: Born and bred in Vancouver.
Lives: Still live in Vancouver!
Work: In the day, I’m a Product Marketing Manager in technology. At night, I’m the co-Chair of an arts non-profit called
artsScene Vancouver that aims to connect more young professionals (19 to 45 years old) with the arts in our beautiful city.

Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A:
The fact that there are on average only 28,000 sunrises in one’s lifetime and we need to take every advantage of it to do what we want to do – such as jumping for joy!

Q. Your experience?
A:
Trying to look good jumping is hard work. I have new respect for fashion models.

Q: Inspiration?
A:
Beautiful things – whether it’s a beautiful piece of artwork or performance; or a well-designed font or website; or even simply a sound business idea. The beauty in the world and the minds that create it are absolutely inspiring.

Q: Passion?
A:

Art, good design, technology. It’s what I grew up with and constantly surround myself with.

Q: Driving Force?
A
: The desire to fundamentally change something in this world for the better in an impactful way. I feel like it’s my life’s calling.

Q: Your philosophy?
A:
Follow your gut feeling and the stars will align.

Q: Anything in the world?
A: Turn my business ideas into reality and start a west coast design museum. I’m currently hustling on the former (ask me if you’re curious!) and the latter will happen a bit later. Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I need to satisfy my appetite for entrepreneurship. As for eventually founding a design museum, I want to inspire more people and organizations to value and integrate good design in their philosophy and everything they do.

Q: Working on?
A:
I currently co-chair artsScene Vancouver that aims to engage more young professionals with the arts in our city. Through Business for the Arts, there are eight artsScene chapters in Canada and run by dedicated volunteers. Together we host events such as boardLink that connects young professionals with board opportunities on arts organizations. Our next boardLink for Vancouver is on May 27, 2014!

Q: Mini bio, interesting facts about you or something special you want to share.

A: In addition to my work with artsScene, I was one of the co-founders of the Ballet BC Up young patrons group, the second young patrons group created in the city and the first of its kind in the performing arts. I'm also an avid cultural traveller. Just last year, I’ve seen over 12 dance performances, seven musicals, seven operas, one choral performance, one comedy and visited countless art museums and galleries around the world.

I am passionate about getting my peers out to see all the creativeness our city has to offer and for young professionals to instill creativity in their work through inspiration from the arts. Eventually, I would like to cross off one of the top items on my bucket list – to open a west coast design museum.
