Free Lunchtime Concert at
The Round Chapel!
Wednesday 30th April @ 1pm
Join us for a free lunchtime concert this Wednesday. Donations will be welcome and all proceeds will go to the British Red Cross Syria Crisis Appeal. Featuring:
Rebecca Carson is in her final undergraduate year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has been playing the flute since she was 8 years old, having heard it being played on the radio and loving it’s sound.
In 2005 Rebecca won a scholarship to study as a specialist musician at Wells Cathedral School in Somerset. She has been a member of the National Children’s Orchestra and then latterly of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. In 2011 and 2012 she was principal flute with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. Rebecca won the British Flute Society Intermediate competition in 2007 and in 2013 she won the Needlemakers Woodwind prize at the Guildhall. Recently she has also been Awarded a Fleming Award of £4,000 by the Musician Benevolent Fund.
Rebecca loves many different styles and genres of music in addition to classical, including traditional music, jazz, world music, rock and roll and much more. Her passion is for solo and chamber performance and she very much hopes to fulfil her dream of becoming a professional musician with a focus in these areas. The next stage of her musical life will be to continue her studies to Masters level at the Guildhall where she has been offered a scholarship to stay on.
Originally from Bulgaria, cellist Yoanna Prodanova has studied with Denis Brott at the Conservatoire de musique de Montreal and is currently pursuing her Bachelor degree at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama under the tutelage of Lousie Hopkins. She has played in such halls as the Wigmore Hall and the Barbican Hall in London, Pollack Hall in Montreal and the Tonhalle Zurich. Passionate about chamber music, Yoanna regularly plays and performs in various ensembles. Her repertoire includes works from the standard reperoire as well as contemporary music.
Yoanna has participated in several renowned festivals such as the Music Academy of the West in California, the Banff Centre in Canada and the Kronberg Festival in Germany. She has worked closely with Raphael Wallfisch on several occasions and has played for Janost Starker, Jean-Guihen Queyras and Lawrence Lesser among many others.
Yoanna’s studies are generously being supported by the Guildhall Trust.
Born and raised in Sussex, Alex Rider is a young harpist much in demand as a chamber and orchestral musician, as well as being recognized for his interest in new music. Recent highlights include solo appearances at the canterbury festival and for the London music club playing music by Berio, Britten and Paul Patterson, a Radio 3 broadcast of chamber works by Takemitsu (as part of the BBC total immersion series) and solo concerti with the Bedworth and Sussex symphony orchestras. The summer of 2013 saw Alex travel to the Banff centre, where he was selected to participate in the Canadian premiere of Britten's Opera, Owen Wingrave. In addition, Alex has just received his second invitation to perform with the Schleswig Holstein Summer Festival Orchestra. Alex has studied under Gabriella Dall'olio and Frances Kelly and has been much influenced by Masterclasses with Willy Postma (Norway). He is currently a scholarship student of Imogen Barford at the Guildhall school of music and drama, where his studies are generously supported by the worshipful company of goldsmiths and the worshipful company of haberdashers.
