We're proud to present to you the Global Philadelphia Insider!

A note from the

Executive Director

Once again the association has been extremely busy putting Philadelphia and our 140 members on the map. Firstly, we have bolstered our team with a lively trio of wonderful Drexel coop students whom you will learn more from over the next few months.

The association was delighted to receive Denis Ricard, Secretary General of the Organization of World Heritage Cities at the end of March.  He was very impressed by what he saw: Independence Hall, The National Constitution Center, The Barnes, City Hall, CHOP, the University of Pennsylvania and most of all, The Navy Yard. He called what he saw, “Philadelphia using its past to look forward.” The association continues its journey toward World Heritage city status as an opportunity for the city and its constituents.

We have garnered a host of new members along the way, bringing new connections and increased opportunities for us to promote and showcase the Global Gateways represented by each of you to Philadelphia. Read on to learn more about each one.

This is a very exciting time for the region. I would be remiss if I did not mention the advent of Qatar Airways to our city. Direct service to Doha started on April 2. Expect to hear more about this Gateway and the opportunities therein.

Our Global Gateways Program is in full swing. Our members are regularly aligned with the World Days Calendar as the year progresses. At years end we will be compiling a compendium of Global Players in the region. We are most grateful to our sponsors in this endeavor, Lockheed Martin, ReedSmith LLP and The Philadelphia Foundation for their generous support.

Let us know how we can help you get the word out on your Gateway!

With Best Wishes,

Spotlight on a GPA Alumni
Our alumni embody the concept of individuals who are GLOBAL GATEWAYS - people who engage in the exchange of ideas & expertise between Philadelphia and the world.

Devika Shah,

"Being a part of the GP13 Team was truly inspirational for me. I learned more than I could have imagined about Philadelphia, GPA & it's members, and most importantly, my self. Going forward I've decided to explore the marketing realm since I worked with it so much in my role with the Expo, and I hope I can find another experience as rewarding as the the one I had here. Also, though I'm technically an "alum" of GPA, I definitely see myself being involved with their projects in the future, so I'll still be around!"

Introducing Global Gateways

Global Gateways is the Global Philadelphia Association's new venture that was launched in January. This initiative views each and every member of the Association as a "Global Gateway" for this international region.

What is it?
Global Gateways is a year-long program authored by the Association and its Members. Global Gateways is about connections, storytelling and trajectories. It is about giving our Members a chance to tell, in their own words, about their impacts and expertise as "Gateways" between the Philadelphia region and the world. One key implementation of the program is through a World Days Calendar: a dynamic, year-long agenda of internationally celebrated days tailored to our Members. The World Days Calendar will anchor the Global Gateways program throughout 2014.
Via our various web platforms, opportunities for collaborative events- and more- Global Gateways will promote and support our members in ways previously unexplored.

When is this happening?
It has already started. Global Gateways is the Association's latest Key Initiative and our website will be continuously updated with all of the "Gateways" events and news. Visit the Global Gateways page here

How do I get started?
If you're a member of the Global Philadelphia Association, contact us to set up a conversation. If you're not yet a member with us, you can become one today

This initiative is sponsored by Lockheed Martin, Reed Smith LLP and The Philadelphia Foundation.
