Hello! We are very excited to present to you our brand new website:

www.people-express.org.uk

Over the last few months we have been updating the info on our website and reformatting it to make it a bit more accessible and (we hope you agree) a bit nicer to look at. Our blog will be updated on a regular basis so keep checking back to see what we are up to and to learn about new projects and opportunities.

ICAF- Rotterdam
In March, the People Express Team headed to Rotterdam for ICAF, the International Community Arts Festival. Based at the Zuidplein Theatre, along with many other cultural venues around the city, the festival provided the opportunity to learn about and experience wide ranging community arts from around the globe.
People Express joined the festival as representatives of EMPAF (the East Midlands Participatory Arts Forum), several of whose members travelled around the Netherlands for the Caravan of Dreams projects, which visited and documented community work from around the country as well as sharing the projects the EMPAF partners have produced. You can find out more about The Caravan of Dreams at the project blog.

You can read a little more about our ICAF experience on the People Express blog.
Arts Award
Following on from the success of our last moderation, in which all 18 young people achieved their Bronze awards, we are now working with a new group of 9 young people, on a mix of Bronze and Silver level portfolios.
These young artists have been working with artist Kate Webborn of fourbeatwalk to create their own zines based on their own Arts Inspirations.
We have developed our digital work with the arts award in encouraging the use of the new Arts Award Artsbox and online blog sites such as Tumblr to produce digital portfolios, which several of our young people are already working on.
Aged 11-25 years old and interested in gaining an Arts Award? Please get in touch, contact details can be found at the bottom of the newsletter.

Film Celebration
In February, we held a film social evening to celebrate the work that had been made by participants here at People Express over the last year.
The evening gave opportunity for showings of Famous at Last, a film by older people in South Derbyshire, Bricked, a film made by a group of young women about the power of decision making and the consequences these decisions may lead to, Trick or Treat, a spooky film by a group of young people based on Halloween and a film documenting the work of the SHOUT! group.
The evening also provided opportunity for us to celebrate the achievement of our young people by presenting them with their Arts Award Bronze certificates.

Famous gets a remake
A new 16 minute version of Famous at Last is now available to watch. This new shorter version touches upon some of the topics explored through the film, with stories of sorrow, joy and everything in between. The film shows what life is like for the older participants who are living in South Derbyshire today. Click here to give it a watch and let us know what you think.
Amazing Achievement

We would like to congratulate Daniel Bailey on his recent outstanding achievement. Daniel was part of the Children In Need Team Rickshaw Challenge. His and the rest of the team's hard work raised an incredible Â£1,354,459 for Children in Need! Daniel is a member of the SHOUT! group, a group for young people with disabilities, their parents and carers who we have been working alongside to provide arts activities for the last two years. Massive congratulations on such a success.
UHT Artworks
Uniting Hatton Together, a project working with the villages primary school produced some beautiful  landmarks that have now been sited around the school, including this beautiful tile mural made by participants. Thank you to the school for all of their hard work on the project and for the communities support. More info on the project can be found here. We look forward to working on the Saltbrook Sculpture Trail with the village in the coming months.
