LSU SRP Co-Sponsoring the Central and Eastern Europe Conference on Health and the Environment
The LSU Superfund Research Center is one of the organizers of The Central and Eastern European Conference on Health and the Environment (CEECHE), which will be held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, May 25-30, 2014. The theme is The Environment - A Platform for Health. The overall goal of the conference is to share knowledge and expertise on the underlying interrelation of human health and environmental exposures by bringing together international experts to present advances in the field of environmental sciences, engineering, technology, health sciences, and military conflicts. LSU SRP researchers and trainees will present several oral and poster presentations during the conference on topics including site remediation and thermal treatment, risk management and assessment , and nanotechnology and other emerging pollutants.
LSU SRP Mentee Places 3rd in LSU Environmentors Science Fair
Trainees Elisabeth Feld and Chelena Ren along with mentee Trey Crawford placed 3rd at LSU EnvironMentors Science Fair on April 28th. Crawford will present his research project, entitled "Effects of Different Metals on Barley Grass," at the National EnvironMentors Science Fair in Washington D.C. on May 19th and compete for a college scholarship. EnvironMentors is a national science and environmental science-based mentoring program that prepares high school students from under-represented backgrounds for college degree programs in environmental and related science fields.
