Friday 25: Pilot Ryan Van Geest’s licence has just been revoked by a Mongolia Civil Aviation Authority senior official and the reason for this is unclear.   Pray that this official would have a change of heart and reinstate Ryan’s licence quickly.

Saturday 26: Thank the Lord that there were no deaths or injuries in the wake of Cyclone Ita, the cyclone which hit the coast of Queensland on 11 April.  Give thanks also that it did not cause any damage to the Mareeba hangar or staff homes.

Sunday 27: Continue to pray about the logistical requirements needed for MAF to commence operations in Liberia.  We are waiting on a letter of support from the Minister of Commerce’s office, but have been advised that the Minister is currently out of the country.  Pray that we would receive this vital letter of support soon.

Monday 28: Sadly a number of MAF staff in Kenya have had family members pass away recently. Pray that each one would know the Lord’s comfort and strength as they grieve.

Tuesday 29: The situation is deteriorating in South Sudan.  Agencies are scaling up their responses to assist people ahead of the rainy season, and unfortunately every day MAF has to turn down flight requests.  Pray for our partners struggling to get resources into the most needy areas.
Wednesday 30: Pray that the remaining permissions will be given in order for a second aircraft to be based in Timor-Leste.  Pray also that this new aircraft will be used wisely for His glory.

Thursday 1: Pray for the team in Kalimantan, Indonesia as they set plans in place to prepare the PalangkaRaya base for the arrival of a new amphibious Kodiak aircraft.

Friday 2: While in Balimo, Papua New Guinea recently the Learning Technologies team discovered that there are many false teachings occurring there.  This type of problem is not restricted to the Balimo area.  Pray for wisdom for pastors in Balimo and throughout PNG - that they will know the truth of God’s word and will stick to it.

Saturday 3: We are currently in negotiations over a tax claim in Madagascar.  Please pray that this matter would be swiftly resolved and in a manner that brings honour to God.

Sunday 4: Pray for the communities where MAF has staff based in Arnhem Land: Lake Evella (Gapuwiyak), Elcho Island (Galiwin’ku), Milingimbi, Ramingining, Yirrkala and Nhulunbuy.  In particular ask that MAF staff would have a positive influence on the lives of the community members.

Monday 5: Pray for safety on the work underway on the new Flight Training Centre at Mareeba.  Pray also for a smooth transition to it from the current facility at Coldstream.

Tuesday 6: Uphold the engineering team in Papua New Guinea right now, as they have a lot of unscheduled aircraft maintenance to deal with, as well as fewer than normal engineers to do the work.

Wednesday 7: Remember the team in Tanzania who are going through a significant operational restructure to adjust to changing needs in the country.  Please uphold all those affected by these changes.

Thursday 8: Give thanks for national employee Lito Ximenes.  As well as being MAF’s full-time office worker Dili, Timor-Leste, he is youth worker with the Nazarene Church and also undertakes studies every evening.

A note from Angela:

I have just spent a week assisting a Government funded organisation called Saude em Movimento (Health in Motion) where eye surgeons and ophthalmologists work from three large specially designed and fitted-out trucks to provide eye care and surgery to the most remote people in Brazil.  About 1500 cataract operations were carried out over the week I was there, as well as many hundreds more eye checks.  Most of the people that came could not otherwise afford to see an eye doctor, so this service is very much needed. I met one woman who had been totally blind for the previous four years and after one five minute procedure she had her sight back!

When you read this I will be in the Amazon jungle with Asas de Socorro (Wings of Help) MAF’s affiliate in Brazil.  After flying to the northern town of Santarem in the state of Para, I will be travelling by boat with a team of doctors and dentists who provide medical care in the name of Jesus to many people in this remote part of the world.

I realise that I am very privileged to be able to experience all this firsthand.  Only a few get this opportunity.  But we all have the opportunity to support these vital ministries.  I thank you for doing so by praying.  Please continue to pray for the ministry of MAF and other like-minded organisations around the world showing God’s love in practical ways to those in need.
