2013-2014 theme verse:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

2 Timothy 1:7

SWU Campus Entrance Update

After months of negotiations, meetings and patient persistence, our final attempt to create a solution for the CATbus route using a safe boulevard entrance concept was the topic of discussion in a C-Fund roadway improvement meeting last Tuesday.
With the impressive combined collaboration of the University, Town of Central, County, public officials and CATbus, Phil Mishoe and University President Todd Voss made a last ditch plea for support in creating a new, safe, and long term boulevard entrance to campus (see drawing).
For those of you who have even whispered a prayer for the success of this project, thank you. To our amazement and joy in the Lord, our new friends on the C-Fund committee voted unanimously to support the improvement! And what a improvement this will be! Using town supervision, county equipment, and C-fund dollars for products and supplies, this project will be a shining example of success when teams come together!  We want to express our thanks to the C-Fund Committee, Mayor Mac Martin, and especially, Town Administrator Phil Mishoe for their incredible support of this idea.
With many hurdles yet to jump, the earliest this final work could be done is this summer, but the end result will be worth the effort yet to come.

It's Wellness Week!
Today's chapel speaker is Christopher Yuan. What many would consider their worst nightmare became a reality for Christopher. While attending dental school, he began living promiscuously as a gay man and experimenting with illicit drugs. Within a few years, he was expelled from dental school, imprisoned for drug dealing and discovered that he was HIV positive.

But God has turned his nightmare into an exciting and inspiring story of redemption, grace and transformation. Christopher has an understanding heart for and a desire to minister to those working through issues of sexuality and to those living with HIV/AIDS. He speaks locally and internationally to youth, in conferences on college campuses, in churches and in prisons.

Christopher graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 2005 and Wheaton College Graduate School in 2007 with a master of arts in Biblical Exegesis and is currently pursuing a doctorate of ministry at Bethel Seminary. He now teaches at Moody while continuing his speaking ministry which has reached four continents around the world. Christopher has spoken at both Saddleback Church and Willow Creek Community Church in America and at many conferences including InterVarsity's Urbana and the Moody Pastors' Conference and Men's Conference. You can read more about Christopher and his ministry at www.christopheryuan.com
