There aren't very many foods left to be added back into the diet. I've listed these few foods below:
- Cod
- Grouper
- Pork *
- Shellfish *
- Feta
- Unsweetened kefir
- Grapes (purple) **
- Kiwi **
- Papaya **
- Raisins **
- Hemp seeds
- Horseradish
- Peanut oil
- Pickles (Dill pickles were added in Phase 3)
- Parsnips
- Radishes
- Red potatoes
- Scallions
- Turnips
- Watercress
- Yams
- Whole wheat flour
* These are
not ideal foods and should be eaten rarely – no more than once a week.
** Use sparingly, as they are very high in sugar.
Once you've successfully added back all of the foods on the elimination stage of the diet, you'll want to adhere to the following guidelines.
- After six months of following Phase 4, you can occasionally reintroduce some of the foods you were previously sensitive to (not allergy-triggering foods, which should only ever be added after clearance from your physician), but these foods should still only be eaten once a week or less, if at all. A good rule of thumb is, “If in doubt, leave it out.”
- If at all possible, you should permanently avoid the poor quality foods that tend to cause inflammation, such as fried foods, refined and processed foods, and cane sugar to name just a few.
