Are you looking for a Romantic Evening? Our April event will be Dinner and a Show on April 22nd. Mike & Ann Kohler are making the arrangements. The dinner will be at Rotelli’s which is located on Hwy 501 across from Coastal Carolina University. The concert is in Wheelwright Auditorium at Coastal and is described as follows:

Isn't It Romantic?
The 7th installment of this popular concert series is again presented by the CCU Choirs and Jazz Band, directed by Terri Sinclair and Matt White. No surprises; just more of what you know and love. Come out and enjoy the blend of classic jazz and contemporary/popular song arrangements as they are performed by student soloists as well as individual and combined ensembles.

Tickets for the concert are $5 for general admission. It is only $3 if you are an OLLI member. For an additional $2 fee you can order by phone (843-349-2787) or on line (ticketreturn.com). There is no assigned seating so we can be together no matter when you buy your tickets. This show often sells out so buy your tickets early.

We will meet at Rotelli’s for dinner at 5:30pm. That will give us plenty of time to order, eat and get to the auditorium in time for the show. The concert starts at 7:30pm. Please let Mike & Ann (mkohler211@gmail.com) know whether you are going to the dinner, the concert or both by April 10th so that arrangements can be made with the restaurant and whether we need to save you a seat.

North Carolina Wine Country Tour

What: Overnight Trip to NC Wine Country
When: Leave Conway at 9:00 am on Friday, June 13th.
Where: Yadkin Valley, NC
Hosts: Mike & Ann Kohler
RSVP: mkohler211@gmail.com by April 20

Mike & Ann Kohler are organizing a trip to North Carolina’s Wine Country. The trip will visit 3 wineries for tasting/tours and will involve an overnight stay. The basic plan would be to leave Conway at about 9:00 am on Friday, June 13th. We will drive to Elkin/Jonesville North Carolina stopping along the way for bathroom, lunch, and breaks. It will be about a 5 hour drive and we should arrive at the first vineyard (Laurel Gray Vineyard) for a tasting and tour somewhere between 2:00pm and 2:30pm. We will then go to a second vineyard (Raffaldini Vineyards) before checking in at the hotel (probably the Hampton Inn). Dinner will be at a place called Theo’s not far from the hotel.

On Saturday, June 14th we will have breakfast at the hotel and then drive up to Mt. Airy which is Andy Griffith’s home town and the city that Mayberry was based on. It is a pretty place that is steeped in Mayberry and worth a walk around. It is a short drive to Shelton Vineyards which has a restaurant which overlooks the vineyards. The food is excellent and the ambiance is great. After lunch we will do a tasting at the vineyard. Then it is homeward bound in time for you to celebrate Father’s Day.

The wine tastings are relatively cheap – between $5 to $8 per person for 5 or more wines. The vineyards will usually let you share. They all have gift shops and are also more than happy to sell you their wine. The hotel is roughly $100 plus tax. Theo’s is an Italian restaurant with dinner running under $15 plus tax & Tip. Lunch at the Shelton Vineyard will run about $15 plus tax and tip.

Mike and Ann need to get a sense of how many people would plan to go on this outing so that they can make arrangements with the hotel, the vineyards and the restaurants. If you are interested please contact them at mkohler211@gmail.com by April 20th.
