We are ready to help you help others.

The mission of any foundation is to establish permanent gifts that will produce long-term support. Each foundation also has a mission that attracts donors who believe in that cause. The Roman Catholic Foundation of Eastern Missouri was established, very simply, to help ensure the resources are there to help others and to pass on our Catholic faith – help people get to heaven – both the ones impacted by the gift and the ones making the gift!

Our mission is to build and invest endowed funds whose earnings will fund God's work in the local Catholic Church for generations. You’re invited to be part of this historic vision of Archbishop Robert J. Carlson.

Make an impact well into the future.

We are preparing to receive gifts for parishes, schools, agencies and charities that will make an impact now and into the future. You decide. Make a gift to support the Respect Life Apostolate, your high school alma mater, Catholic Charities, the parish where you grew up or a homeless shelter.

If you don’t have a plan,
you may not get to your destination.

Financial advisors and investment counselors always suggest making a plan. Without a plan, you don’t know where to begin, or where you will end up.

The Roman Catholic Foundation can help as you are thinking about your charitable giving to the cultural organization you love, the university you attended or a religious community. We encourage you to also think about the various activities at your parish, your Catholic high school or a Catholic charity that means so much to you. Then consider how a planned gift – a gift that will benefit others in the future – can be part of your plan now.

“When the Lord draws near to us, he gives us hope. He refashions all things with hope. In the Christian life, this hope is a true strength, it is a grace, it is a gift.”  - Pope Francis
"We have the money we need..."

An often-heard story is about the pastor who stood up in the pulpit on Sunday morning and said to his flock, “Well folks, the bad news is, the church needs a new roof. The good news is, we already have the money to fix it. However, the other bad news is, the money is still in your pockets.”

Christian stewardship is a simple idea: God owns everything. We are stewards of His gifts, and our job is to invest, increase and share a portion of what he gave us. The pastor from the story knows the money in our pockets belongs to us, but is intended by God for the good of all. No one feels like they have all the money they need, but it is fair to ask – and it is God’s question – do you need all the money you have?

The wonderful thing about the foundation is your ability to designate how and to whom the money goes. A very popular way is through a Donor Advised Fund. You may make a gift now, realize immediate tax benefits and then recommend grants to specific charities each year. You can also create a family legacy by designating your child or a loved one as successor advisor to the fund. Other ways to give include:

• Outright gifts and bequests
• Endowments
• Lifetime income gifts, such as Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts

You may also designate the foundation as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or qualified retirement account.

Planned Giving is a term for making a substantial, well-thought-out gift that can be set up to support the one you designate in perpetuity – forever. The gift might be as small as $5,000 or as large as $5 million. Planned gifts have tax advantages that can help now or upon your death. These gifts may also give you and your loved ones the advantage of participating in the mission of the designated group or charity.

Think about your financial destination and where you are headed. But also think about the destination of the organization or parish you want to help. Be a real part of their mission and help those they help.

A stewardship plan can help lead others to holiness, and you and your family as well, as you become stronger and more faithful stewards of God’s gifts. Everyone is familiar with the Eight Beatitudes from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. These beliefs about the meek, the pure of heart, the peacemakers and so forth were earth-shattering ideas about who will receive God’s blessings. The foundation is a reflection of those Eight Beatitudes of Jesus. “With this parable Christ transformed a world of prestige and power into one of mercy and meekness. The Beatitudes turn the world’s values inside out with a radically different way to live" (Archbishop Robert J. Carlson, Laws of Love, 23).
