As Superintendent of Recreation for the Township of Franklin, N.J., she plans and oversees year-round programs but experiences a spike in activity during the spring and summer months. JAMES B. ETHIER IS COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER

MC’S NEW ‘BAT CONDO’ INSTALLED

The thousands of big brown bats displaced by the Anderson Hall renovation have a new home. Biology professors Dr. Drew Crain and Dr. Dave Unger led the effort to install a ‘bat condo’ behind Willard House. See WVLT’s video.

The College’s longest-serving current faculty member, Dr. Susan Schneibel, will retire at the end of 2013-14. Her 31-year-tenure has been marked by excellent teaching and innovative curricular development. Read the story online.

STUDENTS REMOVE INVASIVE SPECIES, BOOST COLLEGE WOODS’ HEALTH

Invasive and exotic plants are a threat to the College Woods’ health, and students recently put some sweat equity into rooting them out. The culprits, English ivy, bush honeysuckle and Chinese privet, lower biodiversity by outcompeting native species. See the pictures.
