Andrew Evans has scaled the heights of the fine dining world, and endured the heat of the national barbeque competition circuit. Greater challenge, but most satisfying… he's the single father of two adolescent girls. So is it tougher to beat Bobby Flay? Tune in on Thursday, April 17 at 10pm ET/PT to see him compete in the episode the Food Network is calling "Old School/New School."
It’s old school versus new school as seasoned chef Andrew Evans battles a newcomer chef. The goal is to advance to the next round to go head-to-head with Bobby Flay. Food Network star Scott Conant and food critic Katie Lee have the final say.
In a surprising career shift a few years back, Andrew Evans switched gears from chef-proprietor of the acclaimed Inn at Easton on Maryland's Eastern Shore [the late famed New York Times restaurant journalist, R.W. “Johnny” Apple, was compelled to write Andrew’s story] to devote his waking hours to his girls – and to barbeque, a culinary technique he'd loved at home. Evans hungers to be the best, and has burst onto the national barbeque competition circuit with impressive early results. He serves the same competition-quality meats to devoted patrons of his two local outlets of The BBQ Joint, and most importantly, is able to be a PTA dad!
