NEWS & UPDATES

PLEASE NOTE: The Saskatoon Council on Aging office will be closed:
Monday, April 14th and Tuesday, April 15th.

The City of Saskatoon will be repairing a water main break on College Drive on Monday, April 14th and Tuesday, April 15th and will be turning off the water to the Saskatoon Field House. The facility will be closed to the public on these two dates. Regular SCOA office hours will resume on Wednesday, April 16th.

Saskatoon Community Clinic Presents
AGE-FRIENDLY SASKATOON
with Candace Skrapek, Age-Friendly Saskatoon Initiative Co-Chair

How can we make our City friendly for all ages, including older adults? Candace will speak about the Age-friendly Saskatoon Initiative recommendations recently presented to government decision makers as well as other Saskatoon Council on Aging initiatives.   Contact Ingrid at 306-664-4243 for more information.

Art Workshops
 Painting on Clay Pots
Tuesday, May 13th, 2014; 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Cost: $20.00

Painting with acrylic on clay pots is an easy way to dress up and decorate your garden, as well as a thoughtful way to personalize a plant gift. Draw your inspiration for painting your pots from nature, animals, designs and photos. Enrolment limited. Bring your own garden or plant pot; additional supplies provided.
Making Scrapbook Memories
Tuesday, May 27th, 2014; 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Cost: $20.00

Pictures say a thousand words. Gather your photos and memorabilia and come have fun! Create a scrapbook using your imagination! Enrolment limited. Bring your own photos and scrapbook paper; additional supplies provided.

55 Alive Mature Driver Course
This 2 Day Course is FREE and designed to help you...
  • Gain more confidence behind the wheel
  • Update yourself on traffic laws and new technology
  • Understand how vision and hearing effects driving and other important concerns
Designed to help Canadians 55 years & over to maintain their independence and driving privileges
When: April 16th & 17th 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Where: Westside Pentecostal Church - 3488 Fairlight Drive

Transitions in the Continuum of Hospice Palliative Care,

Pep in Your Step (all ages but geared to 50+) Tuesday & Thursday mornings
Tuesday and Thursday mornings - 9-10 am, May 27-June 19
Meewasin Park by Canoe Launch
Cost: $35
Add some pep to your step this spring. Come out to the park and enjoy time with your friends, improve balance, flexibility, and stamina. Bring your runners, water bottle, and a smile as we work our way to healthy and happy. Participants must be healthy enough for exercise.
