THE KRAKEN KING, PART 1 OF 8
The Kraken King and the Scribbling Spinster

A former smuggler and thief, Ariq—better known as the Kraken King—doesn’t know what to make of the clever, mysterious woman he rescues from an airship besieged by marauders. Unsure if she’s a spy or a pawn in someone else’s game, Ariq isn’t about to let her out of his sight until he finds out…

After escaping her fourth kidnapping attempt in a year, Zenobia Fox has learned to vigilantly guard her identity. While her brother Archimedes is notorious for his exploits, Zenobia has had no adventures to call her own—besides the stories she writes.

But when she jumps at the chance to escape to the wilds of Australia and acquire research for her next story, Zenobia quickly discovers that the voyage will be far more adventurous than any fiction she could put to paper… $1.99 | 23.5K words (~95 pages)

WHAT IS A SERIAL NOVEL?

Frequently Asked Questions about The Kraken King

Q) What is the difference between a serial novel and a regular novel?

A) A serial novel is released in weekly installments -- much like a television miniseries in which every episode contains significant plot developments. So for The Kraken King, each part of the story contains some action and adventure, and develops the romance between Zenobia and Ariq.

Q) Is a serial novel longer than most novels, then?

A) Mine is. My goal from the beginning was to write this serial as a serial, not just a novel broken up into eight sections, and to make certain that my readers get their money’s worth and walk away from each part satisfied with the story they’ve gotten that week. So each part is written as its own mini-adventure within the novel. Some parts are longer than others, but this is going to be a long book, overall.

Q) Do I have to buy each part, or do I buy part one and the rest automatically downloads?

A) Each part is sold separately. I know it adds up; for those of you worried that you are only getting a tiny bit of story for each part, remember that I’m a terrible over-writer — several of these parts are novella-length.

Q) Will the novel eventually be collected in print? In ebook? Will there be an audio version?

A) Yes. Yes. And (I’m pretty sure) yes. I don’t have a solid date yet, but it will probably be late fall or winter of 2014. Originally it was planned for August 2014, but the writing ran late — so as soon as I have the date I’ll post it on my site.

Q) Do I need to have read the other books in the series first to understand what's going on?

A) Nope! The Kraken King stands alone, although a few events from earlier stories are referenced (from Heart of Steel and Tethered, in particular.) If you want an advance look at the worldbuilding and alternate history of the Iron Seas series, the guide on my website should be able to help.
