Raleigh, NC – On Friday night, the East Wake Republican Club hosted a forum for Republican candidates in the U.S. Senate race dubbed, "The Great Debate."

Seven candidates participated (Thom Tillis was again absent) with the topics of discussion covering jobs, the economy, energy independence, the national debt, and, of course, Obamacare.  While each candidate had a cross section of support among the over 500 attendees, they were all in agreement when it came to the topic of ousting Kay Hagan in November.

In the poll, attendees were asked to select their preference from a list of announced candidates for U.S. Senate. After the votes were counted, Greg Brannon beat the second place finisher by a 2-1 margin.

The East Wake Republican Straw Poll victory is the 8th straw poll win out of the last 9 straw polls conducted across the state.

Over the last month, the tea party favorite has won straw polls conducted in Davidson, Durham, Moore, Henderson, Rockingham, Polk, and Wake County conventions.

Harris 25%
Grant 11%
Tillis 5%
Undecided 5%
All Others less than 3%

The East Wake Republican Club is a local organization that advocates for common sense conservative principles. Their special events are normally attended by hundreds of East Wake residents and feature some of the top speakers and politicians in North Carolina.  They routinely reach thousands with their issue advocacy and grassroots efforts.
