Raleigh, NC – On Saturday, Republican delegates from the 3rd congressional district held their annual convention in Havelock, NC.

During the convention, delegates participated in a straw poll and were asked to select their preference from a list of announced candidates for U.S. Senate.

After the votes were counted, Greg Brannon received nearly 60% of the votes cast beating the second place finisher, Thom Tillis, by more than a 2-1 margin.

The 3rd District Straw Poll victory is the 9th straw poll win out of the last 10 straw polls conducted across the state.

Over the last month, the tea party favorite has won straw polls conducted in Davidson, Durham, Moore, Henderson, Rockingham, Polk, and Wake County conventions as well as the poll conducted at the debate hosted by the East Wake Republican Club.

In addition to the tremendous grassroots support Brannon is receiving, he's also been endorsed by many conservative leaders and organizations, including: Senator Rand Paul, Senator Mike Lee, FreedomWorks PAC, Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund, National Association for Gun Rights PAC, Gun Owners for America, Congressman Ron Paul, Congressman Thomas Massie, conservative author Ann Coulter, and RedState editor Erick Erickson.
