Coastal Activity Park – Come And Play!

Bournemouth’s newest attraction is now open offering more than 30 different activities in around one and a half kilometres of prestige, golden seafront at Boscombe. The Park provides visitors with a great opportunity to try new sports, tone up, join in a fitness class or simply sit back and enjoy the spectacle.

The new website, www.coastalactivitypark.co.uk gives all the news on events, sports, activities, how to book, where to eat, maps and more.

The Coastal Activity Park, which the NCTA is helping to promote, offers something for every age and level of fitness from beach yoga to slack-lining, table tennis to touch rugby. There’ll be dance classes, national sports events and competitions, training sessions, sports courts and equipment for hire and, better still, lots of activities are totally free.

There are new table tennis tables, climb and play giant boulders, 16-unit gym buddy trail and a fantastic new musical instrument trail along Boscombe Pier for budding composers.

To book courts, equipment or for more information visit the website or tel: 01202 451773

The Big Hospitality Conversation

Some 159 new job opportunities were created in the tourism sector at the Big Hospitality Conversation which took place on April 2 at the Premier Inn. The event, which the NCTA helped to promote, is part of a nationwide British Hospitality Association initiative to create opportunities for unemployed young people.
A number of businesses, who had never before offered work placements or apprenticeships, did so for the first time. The event created 41 apprenticeships, 69 work experience positions and 48 youth employment opportunities.  All the pledges will be followed up by Springboard.  In addition, Premier Inn has pledged 90 apprenticeships for the region, and has committed to achieving 150 apprentices this year.

The Government is offering substantial funding for apprenticeships, to find out how you could get involved contact Joanne.huey@coastaltourismacademy.co.uk.

NCTA – One Year On!

Save the date – Tuesday April 29, The NCTA One Year On.

Come along at 2pm to the Champions Top Floor Restaurant at AFC Bournemouth, King’s Park, to hear about our latest research (how well do you really know your visitors – where are they from? how old are they? What do they actually do here in Bournemouth?)

Come and find out how you can get involved with Bournemouth’s newest attraction – the Coastal Activity Park.  You’ll also hear about all the initiatives we’ve been working on exclusively for Bournemouth’s visitor-facing staff – training programmes, online tool kits, familiarisation trips, customer service modules and more.

Hotel guru and inspirational speaker Adam Hamadache will be impressing us with exactly what it takes to wow guests enough to keep them returning.
And we’ll also reveal who is to be awarded the Bournemouth Customer Care Champion of the Year.

Brain up on Bournemouth in 90 minutes!

Do you have any new staff?  Is each member of your staff razor sharp on Bournemouth and all it has to offer as a tourist resort?  Bitesize Bournemouth is a free, whistle-stop tour of the town, packing in information on key attractions, historical landmarks, transportation and tips on customer care training into a very manageable one and a half hours.

After the talk, there’ll be a half-hour events seminar providing information on major festivals and events taking place in the town presented by the event organiser. The first Bitesize Bournemouth will take place on Wednesday 23 April, 3pm at the Premier Inn, Westover Road, Bournemouth.  Afterwards, from 4.30pm there’ll be a half hour talk on the new Wheels Festival taking place in May giving you a chance to ask questions on Bournemouth’s newest festival.

New English language course for Bournemouth’s hospitality staff

In response to industry demand, the NCTA is offering a new course specifically for foreign nationals working within the hospitality industry.  The course will focus on language and vocabulary to improve their fluency, understanding and conversational skills to help them thrive in their work environment.

There are three sessions, 25 April, 2 and 9 May, and all need to be attended to pass the course.  The beauty of this English course is that it is geared specifically to the needs of hospitality employees and will be tailored to student’s specific requirements making it perfect for any member of staff needing to brush up on conversational language skills.

The cost for the entire course is £100.
