Lesson 225: Desire and Ability
God works in us, to will and to work for (do or act according to) His good purpose. Phil.2:13
This means God produces in you both the desire and the power/ability to do what pleases him.
Heb.13:20-21 Benediction: Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
God has provided the church with pastors and teachers to guide us along the path to holiness.
Eph.4:11-12 he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ
When we call out to Him in prayer, for strength to resist temptation, He answers.
1 John 3:22 whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.
John 15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
