Publication Subvention Grants Awarded


Four Publication Subvention Grants have been awarded to ISU faculty.

These grant funds support the publication of meritorious scholarly writing and other original works by ISU faculty, staff or other selected manuscripts based on topics related to the State of Iowa and the surrounding region.

Amari Piano Quartet - for CD production costs, “Four American Piano Quartets” (Music/Theatre)

Jana Byars - for the book, Donna, Amica, Concubina: Concubines and Concubinage in Early Modern Venice (History)

Janice Friedel - for the book, Iowa’s Community Colleges: A Collective History of 50 years of Accomplishment (School of Education)

Lynn Paxson - for the book, Contemporary Indigenous Architecture: Local Traditions, Global Winds (Architecture)

Grant deadlines occur twice a year on the first Monday in October and in April. Link to RFP

Sarah M. Nusser, vice president for research, is seeking campus input and suggestions for improving research support. Researchers and staff are invited to provide feedback and share ideas on the pre- and post-award processes.

Summer Stipends support:

  • Individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both.

  • Continuous full-time work on humanities project for a period of two months

  • Projects at any stage of development
