HE Luding Khenpo's Dharmic Activities, February to May 2014

Khen Chen Rinpoche Health Update

In early May 2014 HE Luding Khen Chen with attending lamas travelled to Delhi for his annual health check. We are delighted to announce the excellent news that HE Luding Khen Chen continues his good health.

May all the deities continue to bless Khen Chen Rinpoche with a long life and good health so Rinpoche can fulfil his aspirations for all mother sentient beings.

Om Mani Recitation Collection

On 16 April 2014 HE Luding Khenpo together with Lama Tenpa travelled to Nepal under the invitation of the Om Mani Committee to join in the Om Mani Padme Hum recitation collection. The recitation was concluded on 21 April with a total collection of over 120,000,000 mantras. Congratulations and may all beings be happy and contented.
 
On 19 April, during the Mani collection, Rinpoche performed a Mahakala puja as requested by the Om Mani Committee and other sponsors and on 20 April Rinpoche lead a Vairocana puja for the deceased.
 
On 21 April, for the conclusion of the mantra collection, Rinpoche kindly bestowed a long life initiation to the Monastic Sangha, lay community and overseas students.
 
On 22 April Rinpoche presided over a mahakala puja at the Tharig Monastery Mahakala shrine hall to dispel any obstacles for the young Tharig Tulku Rinpoche and his monastery.  
From 23 to 24 April HE Luding Khen Rinpoche gave the two day Cause Hevajra Empowerment, which was requested by overseas students.
 
On 25 April Rinpoche gave the Three Buddha’s Initiation of Shakyamuni, Yellow Manjushri and Green Tara to all the monastic sangha and lay community at Tharig Monastery.
 
Thereafter Rinpoche was invited by the International Buddhist Academy (IBA) head abbot Khenpo Ngawang Jorden to tour and inspect all progress made at IBA.  Rinpoche inspected the new library named after the late Khenpo Migmar Tsering of Sakya College. A new prayer room has been established in honour of the late most venerable kind teacher, Guru Khen Chen Appey Rinpoche. 
 
Tea was taken at IBA and during this time many monks and lay people came and paid respect and sought blessings from HE Luding Khenpo and asked questions concerning Dharma.

Maratika Cave

From 8 to 10 May 2014 HE Luding Khenpo and Lama Tenpa did a pilgrimage to Maratika Cave. It is said that at the entrance of the Cave Guru Rinpoche (Padma Sambhava) received the imperishable life/deathless siddhi. 
 
On 9 May, the 10th day of the Tibetan lunar calendar which was Guru Rinpoche Day, HE Luding Khenpo did a special long life puja
dedicated to our Lineage Guru, His Holiness Sakya Trizin, all of our gurus as well as all mother sentient beings. May our gurus have long lives and continue to benefit all sentient beings. 
 

Publication Update

SIV Final Examinations

19 April 2014 was the final examination day for all the student monks at the Sakya Institute of Vajrayana. Their two month summer break began on 21 April 2014 and some monks will visit their families in their perspective regions of the Himalayas. Happy summer holidays! 

Gonpa Beautification

In the spring of 2013 one of HE Luding Khenpo's projects was the beautification of Ngor Gonpa. Rinpoche's efforts ripened this spring with the blooming of picturesque plants and fresh flowers. The Gonpa is beautiful.

New Medical Clinic

On 14 April 2014 Ngor Monastery opened a new medical clinic. HE Luding Khenpo, requested by Genlak of Ngor Monastery, cut the yellow ribbon and opened the new medical clinic. The clinic was sponsored by Ngor Monastery and provides health care for all the monks from Ngor monastery and SIV as well as a few local people who sometimes come in need of medical assistance.
 
As a gesture of appreciation Rinpoche kindly offered a blue kharta to nurse Acha Tashi from Lingtsang and a yellow kharta to her assistant Ngor monk Jamyang Tenzin.
 
The new clinic looks fresh and clean with ample natural sunlight and has four beds and a sickbay for very sick monks to recuperate. The treatment room has new shelving with medicine for the doctor and nurse to treat our monks. 

Mahavairocana Puja

On 31 March 2014 the Sakya Institute of Vajrayana (SIV) held the Four Directions Puja. The puja was presided by HE Luding Khenpo, HE Khangsar Shabdrung,  Khenpo Kunchok and Khenpo Palden Zangpo.
 
HE Luding Khenpo presided over the western direction representing the magnetizing aspect, HE Khangsar Shabdrung in the south representing the wrathful aspect, Khenpo Kunchok in the east representing the pacifying aspect and Khenpo Palden Zangpo in the north representing the increasing aspect. Over 90 SIV monks also participated in the fire puja.
 
The fire arose magnificently to a great height and there was some wind however the fire deities were most delightful and supremely contained. May all obstacles be dispelled, may all purity prevail for the longevity of our kind teachers to flourish the Buddhadharma and may all be happy and dwell in equanimity. 

Path Hevajra Empowerment

On 4 April 2014, HE Luding Khenpo kindly accepted and bestowed the Path Hevajra Empowerment as requested by Khenpo Kunchok Gyaltsen and Khenpo Tsega (Palden Zangpo) of SIV. HE Khangsar Shabdrung and all the scholar monks of SIV as well as a few visiting khenpos and some overseas students also attended the Empowerment. 

Annual Akshobay Ghuhesamaja Dubchod Puja

From 8 to 14 April 2014 HE Luding Khenpo presided over the annual Akshobay Ghuhesamaja Dubchod puja.
 
At 3 am on 7 April 2014 the creation of the sand mandala commenced and HE Luding Khenpo marked and drew the lines on the mandala platform. During the morning senior lamas created the full sand mandala. The mandala was finally completed at about 5 pm and was then consecrated by HE Luding Khenpo. 

Hygiene Workshop with Little Monks

On 9 April 2014 a hygiene workshop was conducted at Ngor Monastery with the little Bodhi seed monks. An Australian registered nurse demonstrated hygiene techniques in hand and body cleanliness as well as clothing items to over 90 Bodhi seed monks.
 
The nurse was surprised when all the monks were able to demonstrate her last hygiene workshop instructions from 2013. Not only that, all the teenage monks expressed that they had noticed lesser skin problems and healthier little monks. Great news!
