We Reward Our Volunteers!

As a way of saying thank you, Chris Roth (Special Needs Ballroom Program Director & Steel City Ballroom Owner) generously provides our volunteer Dance Mentors, Dance Assistants, & Dance Hosts with Dance Mentor Nights (free group dance lessons for current and past Yes, You Can Dance! volunteers that happen every month)!

All Are Welcome!

No dance experience is necessary to become a Level 1 Dance Mentor. We provide you with free dance training! After mentoring at least one full L1 Special Needs Ballroom session, mentors may become a L2 Dance Mentor. Attendance of a Level 3 Training Session is mandatory before mentoring a L3 class.

Anyone can observe or participate in Saturday's Dance Assistant Training Session! However, to be a Dance Assistant at a Senior Dance Social, one must first have participated as a Dance Host or Mentor.

Join Us for an Afternoon of Dance Mentor & Dance Assistant Training Sessions!

This Saturday, May 3rd, 12pm - 6pm
Steel City Ballroom
(702 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, PA 15228)

What is a Dance Assistant?

Dance Assistants are the partners of guests at Yes, You Can Dance! Senior Dance Socials. Specifically, Dance Assistants are trained to dance with Senior Citizens with limited mobility and wheelchair users.

All of us at Yes, You Can Dance! are excited to provide more training opportunities for our volunteers: this Saturday will be the first Dance Assistant Training Session we offer! The training will be led by Christopher Roth in collaboration with University of Pittsburgh Physical Therapy faculty members. Professional researchers will be present at the training and we are excited to be diving into research on the benefits of dance on Senior populations.

What is a Dance Mentor?

Dance Mentors are partners of the dancers in our Special Needs Ballroom Program. Dance Mentors must attend a training session before they can participate in the program. The Special Needs Ballroom program simply could not exist without these great volunteers!

To register for any of this Saturday's trainings, please visit the Events Page of the Yes, You Can Dance! website
