I was out with hubby the other night and when he nipped off somewhere quickly I took the opportunity to duck into a clothing store. When he returned he asked where I'd gone - "work" I replied! How lucky am I, shopping is work!

Q. I'm a medical student and solo mother studying to be a doctor. For the last three years we've mostly had lectures which means turning up in jeans or casual wear, but this year we start work in the hospital and I'm at a loss of how to retain my personal style, while also trying to look professional on a budget! Before retraining as a doctor, I worked in Africa for 5 years and so I love colourful, ethnic clothes... I want to retain some of my individuality but also look respectful - if you think you can help please let me know!
First things first. I too believe it's really important that you retain your personal style. Unfortunately not enough people do, they choose instead to conform to a standard/uniform look which is all rather dull. (more)

Get knitting girls, or cut up old jerseys or tops. Buy some cheap bangles or cover ones you don't like anymore - get a slightly larger size because by the time you add the knitted layer, it will bulk up. Oh and you'll need a glue gun too, or needle and thread.
