Church-A-Thon

On April 7th our team of brothers set out on our Churchathon. We made it to all 25 Churches this time! It was an intense day. I had three pages of prayer intentions that I brought with me and prayed for each intention in every single church. Thank you for sending me your prayer intentions! On that day some of the things we saw/visited were: the foot of Mary Magdalene, the tomb of St. Peter, the column of Jesus' scourging, the head of John the Baptists and much more. One of the special moments was when by surprise a sacristan let us go down a church that had three levels. The last level was the home of an early Christian and the excavations had not even been completed. Below are some photos from the day.

Holy Week and Easter

Holy Week and Easter are always lived with a special attention in the Legion. The liturgy of these days is especially overwhelming in a community of 325 Brothers and 50 Priests! The Photo is of our Palm Sunday procession. On Good Friday I had the grace of serving a mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Majors. Afterwards we all joined the Pope with a special stations of the cross at the Roman Colliseum which is a tradition that was started by St. Philip Neri.

Mission for the Canonization

Our community did parish missions for two days to prepare for the Canonization of John Paul II and John the 23rd. We went throughout the city: taking selfies with the Popes, inviting everyone to confession, had a procession with the saints relics, singing in all the piazzas, adoration, mass, carried crosses throughout the city inviting others to nail their prayer intentions on them... There was also a 'beat the brothers in mini soccer' tournament. In short there was a lot that went on. It was an amazing way to share the joy of such a special event of the Church! You can see the photo album HERE.

Great Reunions!

During the Canonization many friends from my second home of Texas where here. It was great to see some familiar faces and catch up on everything that is happening back at home. Pictured here is one of my 'bros in black' Fr. Michael Vanderbeek whom I was with for two years in Houston.

How to be Untouched by the Resurrection

Longinus was a Roman soldier just like all the rest. He cursed heavily, mocked Jews and frequented prostitutes. The only thing that stood out about Longinus was that he was partially blind and thus a clumsy person. On one ordinary work day Longinus pierced the side of a dead criminal...Read Full Article
