What's in here:  Band show tonight, new video, more news!
Greg Horne Music News
April 24, 2014

Hey friends! I bid you a sneezy, pollen coated happy spring from Tennessee. I've got some shows to tell you about (scroll down if you're impatient), and other stuff that's been going on in my corner of the music world.

The Greg Horne Band has been really coming together over the past few months, with Chris Zuhr on bass, Nate Barrett on drums, and Barry Po Hannah on guitar. We've got a show at the Well in Knoxville tonight, and shows at Barley's and the Hippie Jack's festival in May. We're hoping to get some recording happening very soon, so please keep an eye out for announcements about that. We have some videos up on my YouTube page, including this new one from our set at Waynestock in January. It's fuzzy, but so are we. I've linked a bunch of other videos from projects I've worked on to the page as well, so have a look around at the playlists.

I'm still playing a lot with R.B. Morris (in our trio with amazing bass playing pal Daniel Kimbro), Jay Clark, the Bearded, and every now and then with Wild Ponies. The late winter was full of great festivals and benefit shows here in Knoxville.

One of the most special events I've ever been a part of was a Warren Zevon tribute show in March that was held in honor of Knoxville environmentalist Rikki Hall, who passed away soon after. The show brought together a whole bunch of great bands and musicians, playing songs we all love, in front of an audience intent on lifting up their friend Rikki in his final days. This is one of the most beautiful things that music and a thriving local scene can do when the need arises. Here's a shot from the finale at Scruffy City Hall by one of the best live music photographers I know, Bill Foster (click on it to see his website).

At home I've been working on pulling together some older recordings to release soon, hopefully to pave the way for new recordings with my band. I've also been busy working with Alfred Music Publishing on some upcoming instructional releases. Our Complete Ukulele Method has been getting great response and is now available nationwide.
