Congratulations Thunder!

Thunder, our featured adoptable dog from the March newsletter was adopted in April after meeting his new family at an event held last month at Mason Dixon BBQ services.  Thunder, who came to Better Days in September 2007, is now loving life!  Thunder is proof that you should never give up hope on finding the right family for each adoptable animal!

Donation Information

Dogs like Thunder are a great reminder of the time and care Better Days commits to the animals in our care.  We are a non-profit organization that relies heavily on volunteers and the generous donations provided by individual patrons.  Better Days promotes the acceptance of all healthy or treatable animals whose traumatic pasts have led them to our organization.  BDAL does not euthanize on the basis of age, disability, size or breed and does not euthanize to make space.  Please consider making a donation today to help support our furry residents.

Volunteer Corner

Volunteers are extremely important to Better Days!  They help with cleaning at the shelter and help at all of the thrift stores.  If you are interested in helping Better Day
s by providing time, please visit the volunteer section of the website.  This month, meet Dona!

Dona Gilson has been a volunteer at the Better Days Shippensburg shelter location for 3 years. She and husband Ron have 2 children, Ken and Diona, 1 dog, Brody, and 2 cats, Smokey and Shadown.  Ron just graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and Diona just finished her sophmore year at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Nursing. Dona works at the Shippensburg Intermediate School in learning support. Dona is also very active in her sorority and at her Church. She is a great asset to Better Days helping on week-ends and is an enourmous lover of all our animals!  Thank you Dona for your dedicated support to the animals!

Featured Adoptable Pets:
Meet Chief!  Chief is a love bug who adores attention!  This sweet fellow enjoys a nice walk or jog and has become a volunteer favorite.  He'll snuggle up next to you or give you a nice big hug.  Chief would love to make his way out of the kennel and into your heart and home.  His nose markings even look like a heart!  If you are looking for a loving companion, consider Chief to be your man.    For more information, visit his Petfinder ad or fill out an adoption application to meet Chief.
Meet Lefty!  Lefty came to the shelter as a stray and is a sweet boy looking for a family to love.  His name is Lefty due to his injured left paw, which the vet believes is either a birth defect or an older injury.  Although he can't fully use his foot, this does not seem to limit him in any way!  Lefty loves to run, jump and play as well as settling down to enjoy pets and being held.  Lefty is about two years old and would love to find a family of his own soon! For more information, please fill out an adoption application to meet Lefty!
