Reason #2 - Winners sell more wine - Expose your wine to 1.5 million wine lovers
Winners sell more wine. It may sound simple, but it's true. WineAlign is a proven promoter of winners through our growing base of engaged wine consumers.
Winning entries in the National Wine Awards of Canada (The Nationals/NWAC) will enjoy increased consumer recognition as a direct result of their success, leveraging their winning status in various marketing strategies following the awards.
All wines entered according to the regulations will be tasted and assessed in a first or preliminary round. Judges will use the same 100-point system used by our critics at WineAlign. Based on its score a wine will be eligible to move to a second and possibly third round to determine the best wines in the competition. Based on their scores your wines could be awarded one of the above medals.
 Winery of the Year: To be eligible for the ‘Winery of the Year’ award, a winery must enter a minimum of six wines. The winery with the highest score will be declared the WineAlign Canadian Winery of the Year.
Platinum winners and Winery of the Year will receive plaques along with new and improved medals and Gold winners will receive new medals. Stickers will be available for purchase for all medal winners.
With over 1.5 million unique visitors a year and growing WineAlign is in a unique position to present and re-present medal winning wines every time someone looks it up on-line. We know that NWAC stickers will be effective on bottles inside retail wine stores, so we thought why not present the same information alongside our reviews by using virtual medal stickers on WineAlign. All medal winning wines will have their NWAC status displayed alongside their notes each time they appear in a WineAlign search result. That is a lot of on-going coverage.

Quebec
Bill began his wine journey as a restaurant owner in Montreal. A few years later, he became head sommelier at one of Quebec's top restaurants. His writing career began in 2004 with the The Caveman’s Wine Blog, one of the internet’s first. For the last 5 years, Bill has been the weekly wine writer for the Montreal Gazette. His articles are carried across Canada via National Post.com and other newspapers, making him one of Canada’s most widely read wine writers. Bill can be heard on CHOM FM (Montreal) every Friday morning to chat about Wine that Rocks. He is now also a principal critic on WineAlign's Quebec website, Chacun son vin. |
Ontario
By day, Janet is the Government of Canada’s chief wine guru, where she is responsible for managing the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada cellar, overseeing a program to assist Canadian Embassies to serve and promote Canadian wine, beer and spirits, and works with Canadian producers on international business development. Janet has worked in numerous capacities in the international and Canadian wine industry for more than a decade and has taught about wine and the business of wine for many years. She holds the Diploma in Wine and Spirits and is an accredited educator with the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET). |
British Columbia
Rhys runs a WSET wine school and consultancy through his business Wine Plus+ and owns a small 4 acre vineyard and winery in the Similkameen Valley - Little Farm Winery. He is a regular contributor to Canadian publications such as Montecristo, Taste, Savour, Wine Trend and Good Life Connoisseur. In addition to judging for WineAlign, Rhys judges wine competitions internationally, including the Decanter World Wine Awards. In 2004 Rhys began taking on the grueling Master of Wine program. This culminated in Rhys becoming Canada's youngest Master of Wine in 2010, one of only approximately 300 in the world. |
New Brunswick
Craig is a food and beverage columnist for the New Brunswick Telegraph Journal and KV Style, & writes for TAPS Beer Magazine, Palate Press, Halifax’s The Coast, Progress and East Coast Living magazine. He covered the Atlantic Canadian wine scene for Wine Access for 7 years, including writing the entire Atlantic section of their Canadian Wine Annual. He has also been CBC Radio’s Shift Sommelier for 5 years. A certified Sommelier and BJCP Judge, Craig has judged at numerous wine and beer awards. Craig designs wine lists, does restaurant service training, and conducts wine and food events. |
