The final (hopefully) update

Things you need to know about the District Camp this coming May bank holiday weekend.

I have added a bit about activity permission forms for the scouts, and emphasized the costume and black t-shirt requirements.

Where is it?

Final Payments

Are now overdue

Please bring your final payments to the cub meeting on Wednesday at 6:45 or drop it through Jo's letterbox in a named, sealed envelope (75 Wickenden Road, Sevenoaks, TN13 3PN).

Cash should be in a named envelope
Cheques should have the young person's name written on the back

The full amounts are

Explorers please contact Hugh
Scouts £65 (most parents need to pay a further £20)
Cubs £60 (most parents need to pay a further £17)
Beavers £35 (most parents need to pay a further £12)

What to bring

Please bring the standard camping kit from the list on our web site

All young people will need a spare set of clothes that they can get wet. Scouts and Explorers will need swimming things too.

We will be parading in in 'Jungle' costume, so bring anything suitable (see Theme: RSA box above)

Scouts and cubs need to bring a black t-shirt for Sunday evening.

Remember

suntan lotion & a hat (the scouts needed it last weekend). The sun is as strong now as it is in August.
waterproofs - you do not want to spend the whole weekend in wet clothes.
to bring a bag to put dirty laundry in - this avoids making everything else dirty and laundry getting lost.

There are over 400 young people on site. PUT A NAME ON YOUR YOUNG PERSON'S THINGS

What NOT to bring

The standard camping kit from the list on our web site has a list of things not to bring too. Don't bring electronics, money or other expensive items.

Scouts Activity Permission Form

Scouts need to print out and return their activity form, otherwise they will not be able to do archery or air rifle shooting. (This is the same form that Sheila sent out before Easter).

Our theme country for the camp is South Africa

Your young person needs to bring a black t-shirt plus anything else that might be appropriate (including animal costumes).

As a group we will be singing in The Lion Sleeps Tonight - please ask your young person to watch the video, practice the song and dance moves!

Arrivals

All arrivals will be parked in the car park adjacent to the camping field – walk to the registration area beside the Marquee, sign in and collect wristband.

Scouts/Explorers – will be directed to the location where their group is.
Cubs and Beavers – will have a collection area in the Marquee for leaders to collect them from

NO PARENTS will be allowed past the registration/collection area

Friday 6pm – Scouts/Explorers arrive
Saturday 8am – Cubs arrive
Saturday 9.30am – Beavers arrive

Young people should arrive in full uniform

Departures

Departure will be the reverse of collection. Young people will be brought to the reception tent and signed out.
Parents should park in the car park and walk to the reception tent.

Sunday 5pm Beavers depart
Monday 10am Cubs depart
Monday 12 noon Scouts and Explorers depart

Medication

If your young person requires specific medication, please can you ensure

That your section leader knows about it well before the camp
The young person knows what to do
The medication has clear, written, instructions. e.g. when to use it, how it is to be administered etc.
If it needs to be stored in a particular way (e.g. in a cool place)
You mention it when you drop off your young person
