How Docker Was Born

400,000+ downloads, 300+ contributors, and 10,000+ GitHub stars. Docker is now one of the most popular open source projects in the world. We sat down with Jérôme Petazzoni, Senior Engineer at Docker, to learn about Docker's origins and find out how they built it. This week we're releasing part one of this three-part interview, starting with the story of how they pivoted from dotCloud to Docker.

  • HipChatTerms of service change- HipChat has made some major changes to its Terms of Service this week. Among other changes, they now allow companies to access 1-to-1 chat history for their employees upon request. It's important to note this update allows customers to request chat history from HipChat, and allows HipChat to provide it, if the customer has the right to view the communications of their employees. Those rights are very often granted through a company’s employee handbook or policies. So, for chats occurring after the terms become effective (May 27th at the earliest), if an account owner contacts HipChat and requests their 1-to-1 chat history these new terms allow HipChat to provide it to them.- Apr 25
