May 2014
The framing work this year is continuing apace.
There have been some interesting jobs last month, as well as a great special offer, so have a read on and see if it inspires you to get something framed.

 Exclusive offer - May

Discount on football shirt framing
It is coming up to the end of the football season, and people are often looking to have their football shirts framed.
Whether it is a signed top to raise money at the end-of-season bash, or a top to hang in the sponsor's office, I can make a frame to suit.
All sports tops are framed in a box frame so that the glass is kept off the fabric.
The tops can be framed with space all around, perfect for signed tops, or in a smaller frame, perfect for offices.
Larger frame - £100 instead of £115
Smaller frame - £85 instead of £95

A selection of frames completed during April...
Silk screenprint
I was brought this silk screenprint to be framed. As it is large, almost 5ft tall, it would have been too big to mount and glaze, so we decided to stretch it the way a canvas is stretched.
As silk is quite fragile it has been machined onto cotton backing with wadding in between to provide some cushioning and then stretched around stretcher bars.
It is quite a dramatic piece that is now hanging above the customer's stairs.
Limited Edition Print
Terence Cuneo became known for his railway pictures, and for his trademark he painted a small mouse on every picture.
For this piece he decided to have some fun, painting all of the railway workers as giant mice.
It's framed here with wooden spacers to make sure the glass doesn't touch the paper.
Original artwork
This pair of original paintings was an interesting framing project. We decided to choose a white inside frame for the colourful zebra and a coloured inside frame for the white zebra, using 4 colours instead of one. They now look stunning as a pair, ready to hang in a kid's bedroom.

 From the Archives

This was one of the first reframing jobs I did.
This is a wonderfully bright oil painting, but the original frame did it no favours, making it look cheap and nasty.
I reframed it with a double mount and a chunky gold frame. Now there is glass over it to protect the oil paint.
Although oil doesn't need to be glazed, would you rather clean glass periodically or the oil paint?
